I'd add KOTR, SimpleRockets (maybe SimplePlanes, idk haven't played), isn't Out There a pretty good FTL if you can't play FTL?

The Telltale games maybe.

Edit: Good thread title.

I've been playing this on Steam while I simultaneously play Idle Oil Tycoon on my phone. I'm not sure what's wrong with me or if I'm even enjoying the experience.

Is it just me or does AdCap seem to progress A LOT slower than IOT?

I haven't played it, but Calculords? Or Trivia Crack?

Having played around 500 matches in Trivia Crack, I think I can say with some authority that there are so many questions that are incorrect, have terrible grammar and/or spelling, are repeats, are from stupid subject matter you see over and over again (ie Harry Potter or Friends), and Etermax seems to have no interest in fixing any of it, that I'd be very loathe to recommend it for any educational purpose.

The general quality of questions on QuizUp is better, as are the categories. It's still self-moderated though, so you'll get a decent amount of questions written in bad English or that are incorrect, but generally I think QuizUp is better.

Also Trivia Crack seemed to be like trivia for babies in terms of difficulty, something QuizUp doesn't necessarily have (it does, but not nearly as bad).

Yeah I was going to try QuizUp after Crack, I like that it has categories so it pays to be a big nerd in something stupidly specific.

I'll have to disagree with TC being that easy though. Yeah sure you'll get a string of dumb ones that you've seen a million times before like "Who is Spongebob's best friend?" or "Where is Usain Bolt from?", but then you'll get "Who was selected 51st in the 2008 NHL draft?" or "What is Mozambique's main export"? for crown and welp.

So despite some of it being easy, most people only have 50-70% category correctness rates, and good players around 70-85%.

I'm also convinced it's impossible to get the 25 wins in a row achievement without cheesing it and not playing truly random opponents.

Attack the Light is really good. It's basically a Paper Mario/Mario RPG clone, which of course makes it great.

Oh. No wonder my much younger brother is obsessed with this. It's like they specifically targeted someone whose obsessed with both Paper Mario and Steven Universe.

Also, holy gently caress. This part of Idle Oil Tycoon I'm at where you're just grinding KYYY to buy one level at a time when you're so used to 100 or at least 10 at a time, plus you only have the one technology left to get but it's loving 100 myyy is kicking my balls. I can't remember it ever been this slow to retire at 5x exp.

I've been getting all nostalgic for Sim City 2000 recently, but all the city building games I can find are so filled to the gills with IAPs that it feels like the old arcade games that you had to constantly pump quarters into.

Are there any good city building games that don't have IAPs out the rear end?

This is a question that's come up before, and even I've asked it, but the short answer is, unfortunately, no, there are no good city builders on Android...

...but, you can maybe scratch the itch with a kairosoft game, open ttd, or something like one of the sim tower adaptations. If you have a fairly decent computer, consider getting cities skylines.

There is no good (or even decent) city builder on phones. If you have a computer, get SC4 or City Skylines.

Yes, I will now list them for you in alphabetical order:

1.

(In all seriousness though, isn't there that one Kairosoft game that's sort of a town builder?)

I've played both and they both loving suck coming from someone who has put hundreds of hours into actually good city builders. I mean neither of them even come close to scratching the itch.

Ok what the gently caress. Today my AT&T LG G3 got the Lollipop update but I wasn't ready, so I didn't do anything.

I continued using my phone as normal for hours, then didn't use it for a couple hours where it was locked and in my pocket.

At some point I noticed light coming from my pocket. My phone apparently decided to upgrade itself without my input. Which also means it forced the new gmail and chrome I didn't want, and I lost all the active Chrome tabs I had open.

I'm just glad my phone was pretty charged, but again, what. the. gently caress.

Finally got the last two achievements in Idle Oil Tycoon by letting a specialist buy levels of it until 1800. So, a bit anticlimactic. I guess it was worth it? I can die in peace now!

I finished Lifeline a couple of days ago, getting basically a perfect playthrough on my first time through. The writing is real rough YA-lit kinda stuff, but the concept and execution is a really cool way to elevate the Interactive Fiction genre in a very different way. I'm not sure if having just finished reading Andy Weir's The Martian improved my appreciation of the game (due to similarities in content) or hurt it (due to similarities in overwhelming snarkiness of the main character), but it served as an interesting companion to that experience. If you liked Lifeline at all, I'd recommend picking up The Martian.

I was just about to post how Lifeline seems like The Martian: The Game.

Does anyone know if this can be played without an internet connection? And how's the battery drain?

Re Lifeline: is there any better ending than Taylor sacrificing himself to prevent the aliens from getting to the rescue ship outside the peak? Like is there any ending or path where Taylor gets rescued?
