I will not shut up about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I talk about them all the time and work them into every conversation I have. I built a shrine in my room for the yellow one who died because sadly no one noticed because she died around 9/11. Wanna see it?

I was just watching this, and one of the comments says that Bonnie Tyler mentions it in her autobiography and thought it was hilarious. I also relearned that she's Welsh, which probably explains why she has a solid sense of humour,

There are like idk 20 seasons of air crash investigation. There are people on YouTube analyzing incidents that aren't even covered by those. Somehow I've been catching repeats of the same random 8 episodes over the last 20 years and it was very comforting thinking those were all the major stories that were worth telling.

I just learned that the main reason Spain eats dinner so late is that, despite being geographically located in GMT, Franco wanted to be in the same timezone as his pal Hitler, and decreed that Spain would henceforth be in CET with Berlin. The sun rises and sets in Spain at the same time as in England and Portugal, but the clocks say it's an hour later (two hours in summer). The shift happened in 1942, and no one's attempted to undo it.

Italians also eat dinner at like 22.

I think it's at least partially just a Mediterranean thing.

France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg were all forcibly switched to CET during World War II, and never bothered to switch back afterwards.

It's the time zone that will keep growing until it covers the entire world, no matter how little sense it makes.

Yeah, in my experience, Europe in general (and Japan, and Canada) tends to eat later than I'm used to in the upper Midwest. Spain has an outsized reputation for eating dinner at midnight (which is not really true).

One more proof that the midwest is just weird religious Scandinavia. I'll be shocked if they eat dinner at any time other than 5:30pm

At least the Canaries are in line with Portugal/UK.

Spain and the UK also both change their clocks on the same day, so the gap's only ever one hour.

Makes sense. It cuts the word down from three syllables to two. Efficiency!

That is also why the stereotypical NFL play opening is "hut hut hike". Previously the quarterback used to just say "hike" to indicate the play had begun but that wasn't enough warning! :eng101:

edit: nowadays before the snap most teams spout some da vinci code sequence of some kind to their team instead.

In (mostly) rural Ireland, dinner can be eaten at around 12 -1 o'clock, and the meal eaten in the evening is tea, a light meal kind of like English supper.
I've never been able to eat my main meal in the middle of the day, that poo poo knocks you out for a couple of hours.

And then after the sequence the QB will have some other signal that he is ready to start the play, like Dak Prescott bellowing "HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOO"

Has anyone got that vid of them not doing anything to indicate the start of play, where they instead just stand up and calmly stroll through the other side's players?

One thing I always wanted to know but never really knew who to ask, is if TV stations buy syndicated programs by the episode or by the season. If it's by the episode, and they tend to only buy the ones with higher Nielsen scores, that would go a long way to explaining why it always seems like you catch the same few episodes over and over, without relying on invoking confirmation bias.
