Ixtlilton and I went to a historical museum today and learned about duck decoys and General Custer. Then we went to a pawn shop and he bought a statue that I'm pretty sure is haunted and I bought my first electric guitar.

So basically I'm on my way to being the rock star I've always wanted to be, and he's about to have horrific Stephen King poo poo happen to him. RIP ixtlilton.

Mafia thread I need help/advice

I'm dealing with a lovely chronic pain issue that flares up really bad every once in a while. Today is the first day of the semester and it's so bad it woke me up out of a deep sleep. I feel like missing the first day would not be a great way to start the semester. Tests about this condition have been inconclusive but I have a pretty strong inkling as to what's going on. Please tell me what I should do:

- attempt to ignore the pain and go to school, it will suck an awful lot but obviously I'm not going to die since this has been going on for a while
- go to urgent care, where I will almost surely be kept waiting a long time and then billed a lot for very little actual treatment
- take benadryl and try to sleep through the pain, missing the first day of most of my classes
- try to score some kind of pain medication from the homeless people outside my building
- smoke weed for the next couple hours, go to class barely functional, apologize to teachers for being barely functional

Yeah, I inherited a bunch of beat up paperbacks from someone who moved out of the building and took that one because it's been a while since I read it. And now I haven't restarted it. Been reading Dark Tower for the first time instead. Which I liked way more at the beginning and now it's a slog (book 5).

If you can find American Ultra, I super enjoyed that one. Last Action Hero was on Netflix last I checked, that one is awesome. Otherwise just watch Person of Interest.

Then the fourth book came out.

The second and third books were fairly lengthy and, I felt, could use a bit of editing, but there's a very sharp dividing line between the front half and the back half of the series, and the beginning of Wizard and Glass is the dividing line. Not only did King's writing evolve noticeably between 1991 and 1997, he also added what felt like eight million other plot points and digressions. I slogged my way through, eventually losing track of everything maybe a third of the way through The Dark Tower (book seven) itself and putting it on the shelf. That book has moved 1500 miles with me, and then through four apartment changes after that. I still have never finished it.

e: all that said, I really need to rewatch El Topo.

I actually really enjoyed Wizard and Glass, apparently that makes me a total weirdo.

School's out, financial aid is like "go away and come back in the fall" so I won't be taking classes for three months. Also I went to see my brother's band play on Saturday night and ended up slipping on wet concrete and broke my left hand (spiral fractures of the third and fourth metacarpals). Going to see a surgeon this morning but it's looking like it'll take a while to heal, so it's also a summer where I can't do the job I was planning on AND I can't play the guitar or piano until I'm totally healed.

Sooooo anyone have games starting so I won't be going loving nuts with boredom and/or playing farmville until my eyes fall out of my head? Did anyone miss LUtR on pain pills, cuz I'm back, baby!
