OP leaves out Elite Plus, which is different enough from the original to deserve mention, and FFE.

I can see one immediate and obvious problem with this: The power plant isn't big enough to support everything you need for combat when deployed. An A-class power plant will do it.

Dabir

It does not have enough power to run thrusters, weapons, shields, shield cells, sensors, life support, chaff and the power distributor.

Is Horizons basically planet landings from Star Control 2?

What I'm asking is are Frontier stealth-mkaing a Star Control MMO?

There was an explanation of this fairly recently, to generate rank progression missions you need to do missions for affiliated minor factions, which raises a hidden stat (that never lowers) called 'faction skill' or something. Once faction skill is high enough, you get a mission.

The problem with PvE is that it should be closer to PvP in terms of duration and experience. Forcing players to equip their ships for eternal death matches is stupid. Zones should be isolated events that shrink over time as the number of combatants decreases, and influence should occur as a result of who wins the conflict not how many ships are destroyed.

Mission based zones would also be great. Destroy a facility, pick up cargo and escape, assassinate a leader, escort a boarding team, etc. Make it something other than simple death matches.

Counterpoint: Flying around in a vulture for hours blowing up ships in a war that will never end no matter how many you kill is both fun and profitable.

The fact that you can't pay off a dormant bounty, especially if you got it for a stupid reason like accidentally hitting a cop with a laser in the midst of a firefight, pisses me off to no end.

For low end players who can't afford to fight the cops it basically bans them from the system for a week until it becomes a legacy fine, which becomes rather troublesome when your ship is stored in that system.

I've tried being scanned by a KWS but the dormant bounty doesn't show up, so being killed doesn't even remove it.

Commit an incredibly minor crime in that system, that reactivates the bounty. Then get another player to KWS and kill you in a sidey or something.

Hi there, I'm a disabled gamer. I was injured about 12 years ago in a diving accident, and I can't feel from the chest down nor move my fingers in order to hold things or push buttons. In order to adapt, I bought a SmartNav4 headtracking mouse and I supplement that with voiceattack. Since those are two of my three primary adaptive equipment pieces, and because both products are popular with the elite dangerous crowd, should I try this game? Because drat is it pricey…

Other than head tracking/Voice commands, how many other buttons do you need to press to play this game?

You could probably get away without most of the buttons but you probably need equivalente to WASD for horizobtal thrust, Q and E for tabbing menus and yaw and something like R and F for vertical thrust (especially important), and both fire buttons. If you choose your loadouts right you could have just the one fire button.
