Well...season 2 is planetary landings, engineers, looting and crafting, multicrew, commander creation and ship launched fighters.

2.2 is ship launched fighters, adding functionality to passenger ships (the Orca has been around for a while) and some new assets. At least, that is what has been hinted so far. I don't think the alien part is coming now, probably season 3.

I think you are going to wait forever man. This is not EVE 2.0, nor do they want it to be like that. I think they are simply making a super FE2/FFE, with some pseudoMMO (mostly COOP) features. I see them working on years to come on this (Braben will not drop his baby down), but I don't think they are going to change their concept for the game easily. We as the players are only part of the story that they want to make, not the protagonists.

I am fine with that you know, but that is a pretty niche game.

I assume that helm and crew has to do with either changing your post (pilot-other crew position) or/and giving orders to AI crew.

Also, does this thing mean that a ship with a size 7 hangar can carry a lot more fighters at the same time? O_o

This, combined with AI crew would put a very different complexion the whole feature..

Agreed. I used to play EVE a lot, and I still adore it. It is a niche game though. And pretty autistic too.

It reminds me of an old Yahtzee quote. "Eve Online is a glorified, space themed chat room for the nerds that are to nerds what nerds are to regular people"...

Yes, that was a CQC station. They wanted those to be added to the game at some point.

Regarding the interiors, I do appreciate the change. Due to the way FDEV have tackled modular construction via blocks (for both outposts and stations), it is only a matter of time and resources for the stations to have more variety as time goes on.

A looot more variety is needed though, and an update to the rules that specify what blocks can go where. At least, they have concepted this stuff years ago..this guy did a lot of them for Frontier when he was on the team.

Its not really about the community though, or parts of it. It is the developers themselves that don't want players to control the game. The idea behind E:D is that you - as a player - are put into a vast space dystopia of sorts, and you are simply a cog in the machine that grinds both lore and gameplay. For some people then, the whole idea of the game is pointless without them affecting it in the way they like. I fully understand that, and I can get behind it (I was an EVE player after all). But this is a very, very different game. And for all the wings, and factions, and powerplay etc etc, the scope has not really changed. And I don't want it personally to change either (I am weird though, I play this game like I played FFE, making characters and deleting them after their purpose is completed).

Here is what we have seen in the first stream.

1. The Beluga (pretty nice bridge on this one).
2. New witch space transition that shows the destination star.
3. Passenger board with missions for normal passengers and VIP passengers.
4. VIP side missions that come while ferrying them and boost your income if you accomplish them.
5. New filters and waypoints on the map when planning a route (this is a big QoL update).
6. Geology features planetside like geysers that will tie in with material grinding etc, and give explorers something more to see.
7. And the end of the stream, there was a hint about NPC crew.

Also, there was also a hint about aliens, showing an unknown probe trying to cut the stream at some point near the end.

For crying out loud, it is simple. You want to join a friend, you push a button, he pushes another one to accept and you are there.
You want out, you push a button, you leave and go back to your ship. Granted, there is a slight problem with what your ship is doing while you are away, but its not like the game does not have exploits, or that those would matter anyway in a game like this...despawn the ship, like you logged off, and you are done.

If I understand correctly, there are artifacts to scoop with your SRV and sell or try to interact, possible cyphers to solve on the monument itself that might provide more info or coordinates, ambiance sounds to run through analysis for clues, etc etc.

All in all, nothing too engaging, especially for some types of players. This one would be one of those beauty spots that we were calling back on the DDF days, as nice places to visit for explorers, photograph and maybe get a clue or two. Maybe Frontier has a use for it too as far as the lore is concerned, we will have to see.
