There's a root and a big tree by that platform. You're supposed to climb the root and jump onto the pumpkins on the tree, and then climb from there, but the tree pumpkins can be hard to spot. I put a pumpkin on the root that's visible while gliding towards the ledge, which should point you to the tree pumpkins. :)

To be fair, I think there is a big "Warning: Picking stats will make this item soulbound" message somewhere.

We all knew that legendary armor was going to be a ridiculous grind. That's kind of how legendaries work, and a full set of armor is pretty much the one thing that could be justified as an even bigger grind than the weapons.

The precursors are also ugly as hell and the final versions will probably be about as ugly but with a jillion particle effects on top.

I have a proposal: Maybe it is cool and also good that Legendary Armor is gated behind four months of raiding and also that raiding is super exclusionary, because it means very few people will ever get around to getting it.

How often do you see people idling in LA with Sunrise/Twilight/Eternity? Imagine if every single one of those nerds was also wearing the same ugly boobplate buttcape outfit and farting out whatever hideous night sky particle effects the final version is bound to have? Hello just started playing this, as a sylvari. I got to around level 14/15 at the north end of caledon, but when I go through the portal into kessex it's right into level 21+ mobs. Is there an alternative to going through the gnome zones to the west?

If you've been to Brisban Wildlands, it's a shared gnome/sylvari zone and not just a gnome zone and it's the intended place to go after Caledon. If you haven't been, it's in the northwest corner, at the end of the road that goes past Wychmire Swamp.

Kessex Hills is also a level appropriate zone, but it's in human lands and the level 15 stuff is in the northeast corner. You'll have to leave the jungle zones eventually, since there aren't any between levels 25 and 55. Like others mentioned, you can go to the other race's zones through the Lion's Arch portal if you bought the game/expansion (I'm not sure how it works now) or by finding the appropriate waypoints on the free version. You can also gently caress around in the other starting zones, since both experience and loot scales with level.

You can PvP at any level (you'll be upscaled to 80 and actually have a separate build for it). Just click on the crossed swords icon at the top left of your screen and it'll bring up the PvP menu (I don't know if it has a default binding). It uses standardized equipment as well, which can be changed while you're in the PvP lobby. You technically don't need to do any PvE.

I don't think you get the PvP shortcut before your first character hits like level 30. You'd have to walk there.

Which is entire possible. There's a purple portal in your home city that leads to Lion's Arch, which has a big fort full of portals in the south end. Heart of the Mists is the PvP lobby.

Like, even if we could help them work out some of their garbage if we wanted and be more of a cohesive team, that'd be great. Make it a drat quest or something. Hell, make ALL OF LS3 ABOUT SORTING OUT, ONCE AND FOR ALL, NO-TAKE-BACKS, all of the problems your team mates have, and then be done with it.

Logan, a coward? Nope, he's won back his honor thanks to you, {PlayerName}!
Taimi super-genius can't do the obvious thing because she's a kid or something? Nope, everyone knows she's capable now, since you published her thesis, {PlayerName}! Eirsson is afraid to do a thing because someone might die? Nope, he's earned his confidence thanks to you escorting him on a spirit quest or some poo poo. Thanks, {PlayerName}!

Just get it all out. Done.

Nah man, give us the opposite of this. Logan gets increasingly pissy and bails on missions with shittier and shittier excuses until no one invites him anymore. Braham is getting his confidence back, but then fucks up majorly and gets Taimi or someone killed and it's all very tragic and anyway maybe it's time you retired, big guy. Rox finally gets to be in a warband and is too busy doing important cat poo poo to go on missions. Rytlock opens up a Ritualist school and it takes up most of his time. Just get rid of Destiny's Edge and babbies altogether and shoot poo poo with Canach and maybe Countess Anise and that charr from the norn blackout storyline and other characters with their poo poo together.

1. Is the HoT living story still gated behind grinding out skills (traits?) or whatever the things are that make you fly harder or talk to different species... etc.

2. Do I need to complete the first story line to experience the new living story?

1. Yes, but they toned the gating way back compared to release. You need updrafts and level 1 in each of the three racial lores.

2. Nope. You'll be expected to know the broad strokes of the HoT plot though. Spoilers, it's that Mordremoth and a handful of B-listers died.

You can sell everything at the trading post for a small profit, or ignore gathering entirely and just purchase ingredients when you need them. The gathering market is pretty saturated, but you might find vanilla in Caledon and chilli in Ascalon which is worth a decent bit.

Speaking of crafting, any direction in particular that is rewarding? Only started a little tailoring on my elementalist, but so far I haven't made anything useful.

It's pretty expensive to craft stuff that's relevant while leveling. People mostly use it to craft endgame items or to powerlevel characters, since getting to 400 skill in any discipline give you 7 full levels.

Sjonkel posted:

Anything in particular I should be focusing on at low levels? Just running around and exploring, doing those hearts and events that pop up.

Pretty much. You get a pretty solid reward for completing a zone 100% (all the hearts, points of interest, vistas and skill challenges there), so that's the standard focus.
