So there's rumors of a plastic sicaran coming out next quarter. Probably more than likely not true, but on the other hand it might make sense in that it'll give FW some breathing room to focus on the Specialist Games stuff while GW proper starts producing the currently available 30k stuff.

Imagine, a plastic fire raptor. :allears:

I do that if the trim is in metallics/dark and the base is yellow, red or white. Easier to fix.

e. So here we go, that's the tally of parts for the board piece with just one wall segment.

For a naked board, you'd need 144 of your favourite ground tiles. In my case that's 3 tiles per mold per cast.
For the naked walls, 1" or 2x 0.5" thick foam boards makes the whole thing easy and light.
If using my design, you also need 2 wall footprint markers per wall section, approximately. Good thing these are cast from the same mold as the regular floor.

Conclusion: floor tiles are the real time sink. Casting multiple molds at the same time is dead easy, so I'd recommend 2x molds with the floor tiles and then you can cast in parallel your accessories.

Alternatively, you can massively accelerate things by using 1.5" tiles which you can cast out 3 to 6 of simultaneously depending on the type's mold. But then you lose out on the very convenient 1" nature of the tiles.

Being sick at home is fun!

Now calculate how much it'd cost me for someone else to do it for me instead. :v:

So with building out an Imperial Fists force from Calth, does it matter much how the Cataphractii are built, can they be THSS'd up à la 40k IF?

Also, while I'm sure Rhinos would be the smart choice, I feel like 3-6 Outriders and a Sicaran/a few Medusas would be the fun choice.

ijyt

For only £90 difference I'd have hoped it look better than that.

The WIP rules have been posted for this guy:

WS: 4 - BS: 5 - S:10 - AV: 14/13/12 - I: 3 - A: 2 - HP: 7

Magna-Lascannons are S10 AP1, 72" range, Ordnance 2, Large Blast.

And it has two of them. Twinlinked.

So not only hitting on 2's but rerolling those 1's as well. Those stubbers are actually straight up Autocannons and the pod on the top is an Ironstorm Misslepod with ordnace rather than barrage.

Well, I thought if it's Horus Heresy I'll be playing might as well go with the big shitters who started it so Word Bearers - and if they die on the table then gently caress it, they deserve it. I've got a scheme in mind that should be quick to paint and actually look decent so I might finish an actual army for once!

If they ever release a Mk III box set throw in some Death Guard or Iron Hands too.

ijyt
Apr 10, 2012

Quick question, is 3x 20 man tactical squads and 2x 10 man support squads a good basis? Will I need more ? This is for Word Bearers and I'd like to be able to play 3k point games with my friends.

e: I don't mind want they're run as just want to have an idea of how many bodies I need. It's a bit tough as I don't know anything about the force org for 30k and if I can ran them as vets instead of tac marines that's fine.

e2: vvv Ok, I'll get another two sprues, don't want too much to build and paint and get burned out again.

Sorry, it was also my fault for not using proper nomenclature. When I said tactical marines it's because I wasn't aware of veterans being a thing - it was more of a "how many of these models should I have to be able to be flexible with my lists"

Again, sorry for the confusion and thanks for the good info.

Good thing only the characters have sculpted heraldry. Now do I make Salamanders or Death Guard. :getin:

e: having said that I'm still struggling between Alpha Legion and Word Bearers, and probably will until I get round to painting test schemes. Although with 60 Mk IV marines I might be able to get away with doing both and just running vets + tactical support the whole time.

Yeah for big hazard stripes I just paint the non-black/non-red layer then mask and spray on black from a can. For smaller areas masking tape again but painting the base colour before painting black to avoid bleeding (thanks to a goon who I can't remember, maybe SRM or Bulbasaur).

The second method works best if you're doing battle damage with a sponge as you can hide mistakes that way.

For masking the small stuff, Tamiya does super thin masking tape rolls, or I just cut them myself.

Would someone be able to post some photos of Salamanders artwork from one of the books? I recall seeing a small, compressed image and it looks like the art shows their armour as vaguely metallic, like this Word Bearer, and I'd like to try and figure out a good colour to use to make a glaze.
