For the record, 1994 X-COM:UFO Defense/UFO: Enemy Unknown was a deeper game than either of the newer ones.
It was also harder, less user friendly, and really buggy. So I guess the PD:H and PD2 analogy holds.

Here's an idea, upgrade the AI to be less stupid instead of having all the cops have damage/accuracy buffs.

I think they hinted at doing that with the FBI files but who knows if they'll ever implement it.

Stuff like shield phalanxes, tazers teaming up with cloakers, cops using smoke/flashbangs as they breach as a team instead of at random, snipers that wait to make their presence known untill you're busy with something else. That could be real nasty even on Overkill.

Of course that would probably require tweaking spawn tables, map nodes, and who knows how many things that get referenced for the AI.

They do have "spawn groups" of enemies who spawn together, so there's the taser/blues team of stunning you and then murdering you, but some more careful spawn logic could do some interesting stuff for difficulty, I agree.

Some of the solutions are even simpler - if you haven't tried INH's Gensec on Overkill mod, I really suggest it. It makes a surprisingly big difference spawning in greys and skulls on Overkill. It's not too much harder, but it's noticeable, and it's pretty cool for people who sleep through Overkill on a routine basis (aka 90% of this thread)

you want it to be Captain Fellis, admit it

I suspect the reason why Tasers and blues spawn together is to teach players the differences between the two models. The fact that blues hit really hard is probably just a nice side effect.

I always wondered why the P90 had the rotation take place in the magazine instead of the gun itself, looks like the reason is because someone else patented it.
I guess they might also make more money selling complicated magazines for their proprietary .22 magnum cartridge.

I got that one in a few tries playing Watchdogs on overkill. A cloaker almost always spawns out of one of the manholes on the passenger side of the truck within the first minute, it was a simple matter of softening one up a bit and shooting him as he hopped over one of the wooden crates near that metal gate.

Also they better loving add a skill to the Tech tree that lets you restart drills/saws by yelling at/hitting them.

This is going to make my next LAN interesting. We all like playing Payday but we usually have 5-7 people so we end up having to split in to two groups with bots (which doesn't work well since half the players aren't great) or leave people out.

Oh, this mod requires the use of PD Bundle Modder, which the github never mentioned.

So here's what you do to install Bigger Lobby.

1: Download this as a zip: https://github.com/polarathene/biglobby/releases
2: Dump Biglobby directory into Payday/Mods like any other BLT mod.
3: Get the most recent version of Bundle Modder from here: https://bitbucket.org/zabb65/payday-2-modding-information/downloads
4: Doesn't matter where you put it, just extract that zip somewhere.
5: Run PDBundleModPatcher.exe
6: Tell it where steam/steamapps/Payday 2/assets is in the Options tab.
7: Go to the Mods tab, Push Add Mod, select "BigLobby - Set Player limit to 14.pdmod" that is within the Biglobby folder, and apply changes.
Make sure course check the box to turn it on.

And yes, it is very funky. Things I've seen so far is Watchdogs Day 1 having only 8 bags, Day 2 never acknowledging that we picked up bags from the truck and becoming unwinnable. Completing Big Bank got us a crew alive bonus of -$5,500,000. Likely an integer overflow from just so many players.

Other fun notes on the new stealth mission in addition to those above:
-There is a whiteboard diagonally opposite from the spawnpoint that indicates the vertical level that three of the four mission items are on.
-You can hide underneath train cars.
-Guards have fairly predictable patrol routes.
-The keycards always have a radio next to them, playing music. This can help you find them.
-The construction workers also make noise that be heard from fairly far away. They have either a blowtorch or thermite paste near them.
-You can grab the blowtorch and thermite paste through the wall if you don't want to risk alerting the nearby construction worker.
-The computer server makes beeps and boops but it is really soft and hard to hear.
-The drone cameras are not active while they are moving. When they are about to turn on, they emit a red light, and once the camera activates, it emits a white light.
-Drones are immune to gunfire. You can stick a bunch of arrows/shuriken/javelins in them though.
-There appear to be four dumpsters in the train yard

This is easily the best designed stealth heist in the game.

Can someone give me a rundown, or point to a such, as to what guns and builds are actual for loud DW? I have never done much of it, and my stealth buddy hasn't done it since late 2014.

Generally speaking I bring something to kill shields and then something to kill everything else. Flamethrower, grenade launchers, and sniper rifles work well at the first task while also accomplishing the second task with some caveats. The flamethrower can stunlock bulldozers and cloakers, but has a dismal ammo pickup rate, and doesn't do much to actually damage either of those two specials. Grenade launchers can stun bulldozers but do approximately jack and poo poo to stop a cloaker about to kick you in the face (unless he's taken a few shots from a buddy). Sniper rifles are effective against just about everything but the low fire rate might lead to you getting swarmed by cops.

For melee, I would recommend either the kunai, buzzer, or electrified brass knuckles for their special properties, namely stunning cops through vomit or electricity. The kunai deals good damage, the tasers do not, but they can stop cloakers mid charge. The katana has the best DPS if all you care about is taking down cops quickly with your melee, and I find couples well with the flamethrower (set a guy on fire with a short burst, and smack him with the sword to finish him off).

The ex-president perk deck functions pretty well as a poor-man's grinder if you don't have the Sokol DLC.

With Grinder deck equipped an other your suggestions implemented, what would be good options for remaining 8 4 points (updated build)?

Edit: Missed Stun Resistance Ace at first.

I find Run and Gun aced to be very disorienting and to gently caress up my aim, but if he has no issue with it more power to him.
I see he has Combined Tactical Vest equipped. That will prevent Grinder from doing anything (need to be in a suit or Lightweight Ballistic Vest) and Thick Skin will also give no benefit (only the first few armors benefit from it). Instead, he should ace Duck and Cover and wear suit or the lightest vest. And always be either sprinting or ducking.

Anyone have some super-awesome strategy for the Reputation Beyond Reproach achievement? (Four man crew has to beat Election Day plan C on Deathwish without anyone being downed, cloaked, or cuffed.) It's the last achievement I need and I'm having trouble finding other players who are capable of doing it. I've tried random pubs, the Steam forums, befriending good people I encounter, etc. etc. I've found like one other person who doesn't need 15 tries to make it 10 minutes in without going down. I swear this would be easier if I could just do it by myself or with 1 other person. No one can seem to understand my pregame speech of, "There is cloaker after cloaker after cloaker in the vault area. In case you haven't noticed, cloakers are complete bullshit. I don't care how good you think you are or if you have the Counterstrike skill. Don't run around in the vault area for no reason. You will get cloaked." The one time it really looked like we were going to get it, I was hosting and my game crashed.

Weapons: Flamethrowers and explosives are your friends. A stunned saiga dozer or a burning cloaker is one that won't instantly knock you down. Make sure someone has a weapon that works at long range, you'll need to kill snipers on your way out.
Strategy: Bring plenty of ammo and first aid kits, stick together, communicate the location of significant threats (mainly snipers, whiteshirts, saigadozers, and cloakers), and hope the vault is empty.
When I did it, the team hung out in that hallway that leads into the bank that Vox mentioned.
Skills: Techforcers or a heavy investment in a fugitive dodge build. Doctor bags and inspire are useless, for obvious reasons.

What kind of builds are you guys having the most fun with in the Beta? Maxing out sentries with a bit of ammo specialist and armorer with anarchist deck is a fun build for any heist that requires holding a spot. Sentries, even maxed out ones, tend to die quickly if cops can surround them - you want to use that shield to block as much damage as possible, so positioning them well is key.

Fire tripmines plus iron man, hostage taker, stockholm syndrome, swan song, and feign death is kind of dumb but still viable on DW - idea is to never rely on another player. Set tripmines to defend while doing objectives, hope feign death can keep you going and stockholm to save you if things go bad.

In the Beta it is possible to get 25 base dodge with 143.5 armor using a Lightweight Ballistic Vest, a combination of armor and vest skills, sneaky bastard and low concealment weapons, and the fugitive deck.
That's 50 dodge when sprinting, 40 when crouching. You have enough points left over to do other silly poo poo like Hostage Taker for regen, Evasion and Shock&Awe and be always sprinting, or those instant first aid kits and Swan Song.
