Whats the official progressive stance on Sweden ?
They were accepting tons of refugees and suddendly went "please no more we're full".

Depends on who's running the country. If it's women then Sweden can't really be blamed. After all they were probably misled and lonely and socially isolated. You know you can't trust women to their own emotions. They need a strong man to keep them firm and in line.

Now if it's run by men though then they're racist Islamophobes and need to hand the country over to women.

Except the avenue that students use to put pressure on faculty is using/exploiting intersectional feminism interpretations, labelling racism/sexist on everything, and safe space / trigger garbage from the U of Berkley gender studies dept.

The customer client relationship hasn't changed, identity politics happened.

The only catch is they solved their Roma problem by forced education and enculturation and the current Swedish populace is way too nice / soft / naive to do anything like that anymore

so the guy who had 8 or so kids with his secretaries took power after the last guy disappeared

I'm surprised how strong the religion's scientology influences are. Really when you think about it the whole thing reads like scientology for black people. Oh America, why is there a racial variant for everything?

There were also people who supported those two armed gunmen who shot an art convention in Texas claiming that those people weren't really responsible for their actions because they were simple brown folk and not as enlightened as the white men running the art exhibit and so really it was all the white mans fault.

Really it boils down to these people wanting to make the west into the only global civilization capable of moral accountability, a sort of different take on the noble savage stereotype.

Anything bad is a result of the west's domination or the aftermath of that domination, an anyone who thinks or says otherwise wants to start concentration camps.

How something is practiced is the religion, not simply the holy text. E.g. most jews.

That said, I don't get why we give tax exempt to religions when a lot of them aren't a social benefit a lot of the time. Tax exemption should really only be correlative to charity work done by religions.

Also if you practice/preach shadid martyrdom you are more crazy/dangerous than scientology.

The Laws of Moses are pretty strict, because the Jews were a minority living in the desert, so the laws had to a) keep them alive and b) make sure they didn't lose their cultural identity. The second part worked, they're one of the few cultures from that era that are still in existance today. If you read the laws, they're actually pretty liberal compared to the laws of other people of the the time (you had to have a trial). That, and they laws were only meant to be in place until the Messiah came.

That's why when Jesus came, he said the Law of Moses was finished, and they didn't need to all the rules and regulations ,except for the two most important comments - tto Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind and Love your neighbour as yourself. In one bit, the teachers of the law bring a woman who is going to be stoned for adultery, but they're doing it to try and show up Jesus (they didn't bring the man to be stoned too), so he calls them out on being hyprocrites, forgives her and lets her go.

Jesus is saying that loving God and your neighbour is what God wants, rather than stoning people.

That sounds good and all, but then you've got to think how to implement it.

Most charity work done by religious institutions (food pantry, soup kitchens, food drives, taking donations, emergency shelter, drug rehab, family counseling, help with bills, etc) is done in the same buildings (and by the same people), using the same resources. I have no idea how you'd be able to figure out what was what.

Granted. Many drug rehab programs now cannot afford to take care of as many people. Same with shelters and soup kitchens, etc, etc. The government uses it's new wealth to responsibly pick up the slack and efficiently and effectively run these programs (as it should be).

Why does the discussion have to be framed in binary terms? Degrees of culpability exist. These girls were neither totally blameless nor at the top of the culpability hierarchy. They're "victims" in the same sense that Manson's followers were victims. Manipulated? Yes, but willingly so. We're not talking Patti Hearst types who were kidnapped and developed Stockholm syndrome.

If these young women had successfully escaped back to the West should we have dismissed their actions as youthful indiscretions or held them accountable for their role in aiding the IS? If they're gullible enough to attach themselves to one horrific "cause" how do we know they won't repeat that in the future, when there's evidence gullible people often do get conned repeatedly throughout their lives? How do we know, for that matter, that the IS isn't employing Cold War tactics and sending them back to spread disinformation?

If someone is willing to risk being tortured and killed to get away from ISIS within months of signing up, I think it's only reasonable to at least consider the possibility that they've seen the error of their ways.

At the absolute minimum, we should be rationally considering the circumstances of what attracted them to ISIS in the first place and what they personally did over there, rather than handing out mandatory minimum sentences willy-nilly.

After they overthrew the bloke that Britain had put in who had taken over from the socialist guy in charge. That and betrayed the large socialist section because they could get away with it and won out in the aftermath of the overthrow of the Shahs regime. Then we get into a whole mass of internal problems and the fact that many of the larger (and younger) sections of the community don't like being international pariahs and not having any money.

But yeah, lets go with "singing the song Savages" from Disneys Pocahontas because we are unable to understand history and faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaart.
