In Training posted:I rented 2 first because the cover looked loving cool and after watching the opening cutscene I popped the disc out and thought "i have to play 1 to figure out what the gently caress this game is about". Then I played 1, got all excited to play 2, booted it up and it still makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and I got compeltely trolled hahahaha

just randomly remembered this one food item in MGS3, it was this fruit that was full of like sweet juice, and paramedic goes on about how it's very nutrient rich and delicious, a delicacy in some parts, and when snake eats it he thinks it's horrible and it recovers like half a bar of stamina lmao i wonder of kojima himself ate that fruit and thought it was awful after others hyped it up

its not weird to make that observation. kojima is a perfectionist obsessed with getting every last detail just right, and pushing the hardware to its absolute limit. if its possible to animate ice slowly melting over time on the PS2 and only a handful of players will ever see it, well loving do it! cant imagine how excited a guy like him gets when the next batch of consoles comes out with a big horsepower upgrade. i remember reading MGS4 development interviews where he wanted to take that sort of ice-melting stuff to the next level, have trees that age and cars that rust depending on the weather in the area and all sorts of stuff. it turned out to be a far more linear adventure than he planned for, and MGS5 got cut off before these sort of crazy details could make it in (tho plenty of them did im sure). thinking about this poo poo just gets me more and more excited for his future titles. even if they somehow don't end up being my cup of tea, they will be a masterwork of art, design and ingenuity that blows everything else out of the water.

i dont have a desire to replay mgs5 but i spent countless hours dicking around in it and taking out the same enemy strongholds over and over for fun with all the lategame toys you unlock. in a sense that is replaying it. also cant you replay story missions whenever you want?

lol i still havent finished mgs5. it has that gta effect on me where i care more about playing around in the sandbox than the story, i completed the first chapter and i was satisfied with that really.
