I had a beer once with Stephen Miller and now I like him.

I also tried to ban someone from a Discord for pointing out what an unrelenting shithead I am! I'm even dumb enough to think it worked!

I loving love this series jesus christ

This series has way too much going for it. The story is great, the art is great, the characters are amazingly all likeable and well fleshed out.

It even has loving cooking recipes in it.

So page 8 is totally a dickbutt right? That's gotta be a reference.

Jesus Christ this series just ramped up to 1000.

After trying a few times to explain to friends why they should read this/watch the anime I've come to realize that there is no good way to sum up what Golden Kamui is without missing out a ton of what makes it great.

It's amazing this series works as well as it does considering how many genres and influences go into it.

Really wondering now where the anime will stop because the ending song animation had Kiroranke in it.

Unless they massively rewrite something that's gotta just be a random inclusion. Kiroanke doesn't show up till chapter 71 or so, and at this rate the show's only going to reach chapter 25-30.

How did the anime turn out? I never watched past the second episode because the quality didn't feel comparable to the manga

It got much better, but not to where I'd like. Hopefully a second season means they'll get better support to continue bringing up to the manga's standard.

New chapter!! Featuring rear end EYES

It's cool that Noda took another page from actual history with the eyepatch trick. It's theorized to be the real reason so many Pirates had eye patches, because going back and forth from below deck to above and back is hard to do in large older vessels due to poor lighting of the era.

I wonder if this dude either had foreknowledge of Tony's shtick or is just a "night fighting" specialist.

Another chapter is out. I almost feel sorry for Sniper Guy. Almost.

On a side note, Otonoshin is going to figure out that his crush was the one who kidnapped him and he's going to be, well, crushed. :sigh: How could you play with the kid's heart like that, Lt. Tsurumi?

Honestly, with the depths of how devoted he's made his people I wouldn't doubt if Otonoshin just accepted it saying "THE PLAN IS GOOD ENOUGH THAT I'M OK WITH THIS!".

Tsurumi smiling sadly remembering Edogai :( I still say the biggest flaw in this series was killing him off way too soon. Seriously imagine Koito and Edogai interacting while Tsukishima has to watch. What could have been...

I don't think so. There are already so many characters, all of which with crazy charisma and character, that it's hard to keep things straight at times.

Plus from a narrative standpoint having a set number of fakes to track and use is easier to keep together instead of avoiding the temptation to just make as many as needed to get around plot holes.

new chapter 265

i have a hard time keeping track of all of the 7th division member's backstories and motivations, do we know if there's a reason why the sergeant is so visibly affected by the news that tsurumi had a family?

at some point i should do a re-read of the series and pay more attention to each member of the 7th division, but outside of koito and ogata i tend to lose track of how each of them got to this point and what specifically they're hoping to achieve

A major part of Tsukishima's back story was how Tsurumi convinced him to join after the whole "your loved one is dead/wait she's alive" side story. Tsurumi basically convinced Tsukishima to live and come work with him because "I need a translator, you're a great Russian translator". to which Tsukishima said "wtf I can't speak any Russian" which gave us the line "Study like your life depends on it then!".

It may seem like a little thing but taking away that whole motivation of "I need a Russian translator and right hand man" basically starts to break down all of the narrative that Tsurumi has been weaving for not only his right hand man but the whole basis for what the 7th is doing.
