I read an interesting thing a couple days ago that the hacker stuff might not be motivated by putins love of trump but rather his extreme dislike of Hillary. Some of her sec state stuff coincided with rough times for him, and she oversaw the "reset" when he was trying to build influence again.

Baronjutter posted:I'm assuming it was a large amount, like a van load of cheese. Here in Canada cheese smuggling is actually a big deal because Canada has insane cheese protectionism. The mafia in some places found it safer/more profitable to smuggle cheese rather than drugs, which they then sell to restaurants and food supply places. The price difference between what you pay in the US vs Canada for the same imported cheese is that much to make it viable for a large black market on cheese to exist. Yeah in the sketchier parts the grocery stores have the cheese section locked down like smokes/razors and in the sketchier bars crackheads will try and sell you pounds of cheeses they've lifted. The rumour a few years ago was that Fresh Slice dollar pizza was able to grow so fast and so cheaply was because he was sourcing g cheese almost exclusively through crackhead theft.

This one is frightening if true (the frame up part, if the other part is true it's just sad) https://www.yahoo.com/news/hunter-stalins-mass-graves-trial-friends-hes-framed-102350054.html Guy who is known for finding proof Stalin was a jerk rung up on child porn charges. He was asked to go to a police station to explain an antique gun he had and entirely by coincidence while he's there mysterious parties break into his house and copy all his files. Said mysterious people anonymously forward pictures to police.

Brown Moses posted:It's a summary of work done by Fontanka in Russia, so that's a harder one for them to argue against. I think they were the Russian organisation who first published the second suspects passport, with the same weirdness as the first suspect's passport. We've got some great stuff coming up on this as well, hopefully we'll be able to have it out early next week. The irony is, if it wasn't for the Russia Today interview with the suspects, we wouldn't have got as much interest in the article we published, which led to people reaching out to us with more information, which further undermines the claims of the suspects. It's great. I think some of that is the sheer contempt of the "cover up" and the laziness of the RT interview. Like sure MoD can put out nonsensical crap, people are used to that. But when they can poke holes in a story that isn't presented as a fait accompli by a government organ they'll be more tempted to do so.

Tonton Macoute posted:The way I understood it, OIK is a scheme that is intended to subsidize producers of renewable energy. The public distributor (think the public power company) buys energy from small and independent producers that produce energy using renewable sources or co-generation plants and passes a significant part of the cost onto the endusers, thus raising the energy prices for everyone. No sarcasm here, legit interested
