I'd be pretty leery about hacking up the pitman arm. Changes to the pitman can do weird poo poo to how the vehicle steers.

So what are the ultimate plans for this beast, anyway? Obviously I don't know you or your life, but I can't think of a good use for a 60 year old medium-duty dump truck. Not making GBS threads on your ideas here, I'm just curious what you have in mind. I will throw my vote in for a modern 8.1L BBC though. Looks like you may need a new steering solution to get it in there, but I think it would be a great engine for this thing.

I feel like zoomies were mentioned at one point... I'd say the old sharpie and grinder method would work though. I assume that lever pivots down around that bolt in the picture so that left corner fouls on the manifold, yeah? Oughtta be able to clear some of that off without doing too much damage to the strength of that part.
