Putting all those screenshots together really reminded me of how pretty Civ 5's UI is

But some guy made Steam Filmmaker porn out of the leaders so it's actually Totally Worth The Effort

I guess if I bought this off that Wingamestore place and already plugged in the codes I"m too late to jump on the 20% off Deluxe version huh? Oh well.

Turns are super slow for me right now in the Classical Age, is it just normally that way or should I be copying it over to my SSD? e: oh wait it's already on my SSD Eej fucked around with this message at 00:41 on Oct 21, 2016 |

Brannock posted:I'm on turn 217 and turns are still completing at a good pace. 8 civs, Small map. I'm using a hard drive from 2009 (I really should upgrade at some point) so I doubt that's your problem. How many AIs are in the game, how's your CPU? i5 4690k, Large map, I think I was getting some memory leaks in Chrome from leaving it on forever so closing that up might fix it.

So I figured out my slow turn problem was due to Chrome memory leaking so all is well. Prince definitely feels real easy even when Saladin surprise declared on me with a 7 warrior rush. I guess the AI doesn't take into account your gold purse (which seems incredibly easy to fill early game?) and I held it off with archers in my city and encampment with spearmen up front. I do find myself exploring along rivers to find the best places to settle but exploring along the coast is insanely dangerous at a certain point cause Barbarian ships kill scouts in two turns.

Spawning near other civs as the Aztecs is really funny because you end up with a ton of free Workers just squatting around your cities waiting for borders to expand or the next town to be conquered/founded.

Eiba posted:Settlers get more expensive, but worse than that districts get more and more expensive as you build more too. Honestly by putting the good "tall" buildings in Districts and putting the expansion penalty there, it allows you to more freely build smaller cities for the purpose of blocking off land and claiming resources.

I feel like Gorgo is incredibly good for starting because the Wildcard slot is so silly since you can run +1 Hammer and +1 Gold/Faith in Capital City from turn 1 and you can skip building Monuments for a while and just kill things to research your Civics.

There really is no way to remove districts is there? I just accidentally blocked off the only aqueduct tile with a commerce district.

splifyphus posted:Just beat my first game, space win with Gorgo (who isn't very good, her culture kills don't scale with era/cost). Technically they do, it's 50% of defeated unit strength it's just that unit strength doesn't scale as high as civic costs.

CharlieFoxtrot posted:Like, Civ V's Great Library was extremely powerful as a slingshot. Civ VI's Great Library is a joke, especially considering the speed ratio between production and science. If the boosts to Ancient/Classical tech are still valuable when you finish building it, you have some other problems you need to deal with. Also now that wonders take up a tile (do they remove yields like districts?), if the only tile you can build it on has an improvement or resource on it, that's an additional cost for marginal benefit I mean, isn't the design goal of Civ 6 to remove slingshots in favour of the smaller, more frequent eurekas?

CharlieFoxtrot posted:OK yeah I forgot about the traders, that's actually a big deal and you do need to have fogbusting units following the route if there's a lot of wilderness Yeah you basically need to maintain a Mongolian Empire era Silk Road across the map if you plan to fulfill those rear end in a top hat CIty State quests that want a Trade Route formed except they're like 20 tiles away. e: also for everyone else don't be lazy about protecting your Traders, cause their cost goes up with each one you buy and you're kicking yourself in the nuts for 200+g each time early game and that could've been an archer

Comstar posted:The manual apparently states this, this is not a bug. So you can have 200 cities and 500 copies of a luxury resource, but only the most saddest cities will get it. So Nome, Alaska gets the finest luxuries in the world, but New York City that has 100 times the population gets none. You only use 4 of any luxury item. It's to limit how tall you can get when going wide. If luxuries applied to every city equally then you could grab some wine, silver, incense and diamonds and 30 cities would grow at the same rate as 3.

Is there a way of adopting a religion as your own when you conquer another civ that has its own religion?

Megazver posted:Try making missionaries in the city that has that religion, I suppose? Yeah but if you pop a GP you can Found your own religion, which will not be the same as your conquered civ's religion so then you have to go and missionary everything again. Like the dead civ's religion is still theirs apparently?
