Also, FWIW, Vaul-tek wasn't inherently evil, it was just co-opted by The Enclave at some point in it's lifepsan, because the Enclave figured that armageddon was inevitable and that space colonization was pretty much America's only hope. So they used the vaults to test how people would react in various situations and to certain stresses. This is why Vault 15 was full of a bunch of different ethnicities, nationalities, and creeds and what not to see how they'd all get along in such tight circumstances. V13 was to see how people would act under the impression they'd never leave. Bakersfield's vault had a faulty door. Vault City's vault was a control vault that sealed up for like 90 years and then came out into the Wasteland. Some Vaults also had some Experiments going on under similar logic. Vault 22 in FNV was experimenting with various plants and plant growing stuff under similar auspices. Whether to breed plants for the reclamation of America or the colonization of an alien world. V22 wasn't even supposed to be that bad or anything, but complications from the experiment lead to the death of everyone inside it.

This retcon is dumber than anything Beth has done to the franchise. IMHO.

e:Like, it has resulted in fantastic vault setpieces and other good stuff, but the actual FO2 plot twist was always so stupid to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to make a mod for consoles:
  • You have to own FO4 on PC & own a PC that can play it decently well
  • Create a PC mod, test it, bugfix it, etc.
  • Upload your mod to Bethesda.net, then have someone (could be yourself) download it & install it on the console
  • Playtest the mod again on console
  • Fix console only bugs, reupload to bethnet, redownload to console

I've got to imagine that most PC modders don't have FO4 console versions too. So either you spend another big chunk of money on the game+dlc, or the playtesting/bugfixing steps (which often get repeated many times) turn into a nightmare / get ignored. And it will be a real pain for large texture pack creators without good internet. Create a 900mb pack, spend a few hours uploading it to Bethesda.net, spend another half hour downloading it onto the console, realize something is incompatible with the console, spend 10 minutes fixing it, then 3 hours repeating the upload/download process again to see if the fix worked.

I know there are a number (and probably much more unknown) of mods on Beth.net meant for Xbox that simply don't do anything when loaded on Xbox, for I suspect those very reasons.

After an Arkane game booting this up feels quaint. The game could really do with better traversal options. Heavy object lifting and just better item manipulation would be nice too. Never mind a GLOO gun.

Most of the heavy stuff is static I think, so that's probably out of the question.

Idk about Arkane style climbing/hoisting. It would break the level design in some areas, and look bad in third person without new animations, but I'm guessing it's doable.

Maybe I should try a jet pack mod.

Since Bethesda has complete oversight over what becomes a CC mod---ahead of work starting---that would be stupid (so yeah probably happened), unless Bethesda reneges on their promise to not allow repackaged old mods. Which I really don't see them doing.
