All the demo videos say that Link can climb on pretty much everything, stamina willing, except for the walls in the shrines. That may extend to dungeons too perhaps.

I'd assume you'd get some sort of divining rod because finding 900 Koroks doesn't sound all that great. Edit: Or it would be nice if a good chunk of them were clustered together or something.
