S1E9 of TNG "The Battle": For revenge, an alien race that believes women shouldn't wear clothes and turbo-capitalism gaslight, trigger, and torture Picard, leaving you to wonder if they write their reports like "(((Picard)))" :v:

I know I'm still super early into the show, but this one was pretty drat Good! This is the first one that really got me into the story. I'm amazed that within a couple of episodes the Ferengi went from dweeby hyperactive goblins to an actual threat.

I thought the idea there was that the planet of addicts were going to have mass involuntary detox and would then be fine, while the planet whose only industry was selling narcotics would be like "uh, welp."

Addict Planet made everything for Drug Planet so the losers here would be Drug Planet.

I kind of had that thought, but I still find a forced detox not fully humane. yeah, it screws peddler planet in the long run, but addict planet is going to suffer like hell for an undeterminable amount of time. find a way to help addict planet while dicking with peddler planet.

Certainly the Ferengi were a poor execution since all I've heard about them were "Space Jews" or whatever crass accusations of anti-Semitism the Internet threw at Roddenberry. not having the borg, I reckon. they seem pretty important to the series as a whole, so maybe they can't figure out what to do afterwards

also, thank God for the scenes with Picard and Wesley on the shuttle craft during the Pakled episode, holy hell. :catstare:

Up The Long Ladder wasn't so bad, to me. I don't know if it's because the previous one was the Pakled, or if it was so dumb it was funny

I've just found a massive plot-hole in Star Trek. On stardate 46379.1 the USS Enterprise D arrives at Deep Space Nine "to assist in the reconstruction of the Bajoran aqueduct systems, damaged during the Cardassian occupation". The exterior view of the Enterprise docked at an upper pylon is shown in both the DS9 episode "Emissary" and in the Next Generation episode "Birthright, Part I". However, in the TNG episode Bajor is nowhere to been seen. Both episodes take place before the station was moved closer to the wormhole by order of Major Kira in "Emissary, Part II"

Boy I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder.

I'm sure it'd be possible to casually dismiss whatever details the fan film people came up with for it, but the event itself (whatever it was) has been canon for a long time.

Garth of Izard should just be Garth of Wayne's World.

Finished up season 3 of TNG. Locutus of Borg shouldn't have been over in a two parter. it's such a neat concept to just be done with it immediately. Worf's parents are really great, too :3:

Everyone seems angled towards an empty space in the middle. Everyone is on a different level. Riker and Troi look really awkward. Picard looks lonely. The consoles look tiny and unimportant which seems an odd choice when this set's sole function is to sell this room as the nerve centre of the ship.

it looks like Picard, Riker and Troi are game show contestants. the entire set feels like some kind of Space Who Wants to be a Millionaire

wait no, it's weakest link. Picard swivels his chair around asking people on the outer edges of the bridge questions. cheating in space weakest link is so rampant, Riker and Troi are this week's rotating panel judges.

Yeah. But I don't think it's the worst, just spectacularly stupid. I get wanting to do an environmental episode at that time.
