Pretty much that. I'm surprised they didn't advertise the cast as a "ragtag group of misfits".

I just didn't feel there was any real chemistry among the cast. Maybe if it has lasted longer.

They actually did this in a short story back in the 70s, for a fan fiction omnibus. IIRC it was Kirk, McCoy, and Spock took the place of Shatner, Kelley, and Nimoy and appeared on the set in 1968 or something.
