They should remake Major League with Amy Schumer, Melissa McCarthy, and fill out the cast with SNL alumni.

A big-budget reboot of Tomb Raider starring Laverne Cox as Lara Croft and directed by Michael Bay would be a millenial favorite.

Now that you mention Lena Dunham, I can only imagine her as being the best replacement for Momma (Anne Ramsey) in a Throw Momma from the Train remake.

the 21 Jump Street/MIB cross-sequel

Somehow I hadn't read about this one. It could be good, but it's rather odd and I'm surprised the idea made it out of the board room. I also think Bad Boys 3 could do well partly due to nostalgia. My only worry, and I'm serious, is the lack of Michael Bay. The over-the- top action and explosions were a big part of the first two.

It does if you use Tumblr math. Its a triumphant day for women in cinema so quit trying to downplay their success!

I agree completely. It's no fault of actresses or actors who get cast in lovely, cynical cash grabs. The studio, director and writer are at fault for placing those women into this situation in a sub-par effort, then marketing it as some sort of test of progressive loyalty.

Sounds similar to the porn industry.

I don't know. Movies from the 30s-40s are pretty much just people talking for an hour and a half wearing hats and their pants pulled up to their nipples.

Oh, I agree. Movies out of the 70s up are still relevant. Maybe even back into the 60s. But I've made the argument before and some smug goon brings up some rare French movie in the Criterion collection that is a beautiful, well-acted masterpiece that could blow any movie made today out of the water and I was just cutting to the chase.

I think your post us spot on and I've seen everything on your list except this, and I'd never heard of it. I looked it up on IMDB and noticed Richard Giffiths looked as old in 1987 as he did in the Harry Potter movies. I need to find a copy, though, it looks good.

I feel like people are glossing over the fact that Ben Affleck is doing the original Good Will Hunting screenplay and calling it The Accountant.

That's hilarious to me.

They wrote this screenplay about a special supergenius from a middle class background who gets discovered by the government and the government's like "man! this guys smart as gently caress! i know! let's give him guns to shoot ppl w/!!!" That screenplay got trashed and rewritten, and they've been both trying to get a lick of it w/ action poo poo and spy thrillers like Borne but they've finally got their loving baby made now. Good Will Hunting, Original Recipe is on the menu mother fuckers.

They need to do a crossover with Borne and bring us another Affleck/Damon buddy movie.
