I need to catch up with this thread really bad [IE read the last 10k posts in the last thread, and what there is of this one], I've been neglecting it for a long time, I am a bad retro dork

That said, I bought a second Vita TV since the Vita has now been broken wide open, because why not? They're only like $40 on Amazon. I hope the emulators somehow get a way to load ROMs via network, because I already own a 64 and 32 gig card and I'm already not too proud of that fact, loving Sony

Seems like SNES runs a little better in Vita mode as opposed to running via PSP mode before, but I haven't tried too much yet. I fired up SimCity, and just kinda got sucked into that for the rest of the evening. SNES SimCity is the best thing.

No? Well I do.

I was pretty surprised that I was getting any image at all. You wouldn't want to sit down and play through a game at any length with it due to the flickering image, but it is playable.

Oh, god, why

Still kicking myself for not buying the somewhat-overpriced great condition TE at a local shop before it shut down years ago.

Never again. In this hobby, spend first, think later.

So in threads previous, I've outed myself as being someone who loves CRT dot crawl/noise and all the other wonderful image-loving things they do.

I was playing various emulators on my newly hacked Vita TV on my PC monitor the other day, and thought, y'know... I wonder if I could connect this to my giant CRT downstairs. The image would probably look awesome.

That lead to a little shopping spree on Amazon, and two shipments later...

This [to kill the HDCP]:

plus this:

Equals this:

It's awesome. The Vita TV can output 480i, so 4:3, which I didn't know. I was worried it could only do 16:9 and I'd have to mess with emulator settings to make it not squished and weird on the TV.

It feels a little lagged, like when playing SMW it didn't quite feel responsive enough, but since 90% of what I play is RPGs, no biggie.

check it at full size for the full effect
Text and menus looks like poo poo but the game itself looks pretty cool. I used SweetFX to do that (and I'm sure that image is going to cause at least 2 people in this thread to have a tremendous heart attack. It feels like a tiny bit of sacrilege.)
