like, when is that acceptable? if you're down a field goal in the second quarter and throw in the towel you're a bad fan and people will probably draw the line all over the place and i imagine the threshold is a lot lower for, say, the browns.

My opinion is I saw the chiefs beat the Chargers this weekend despite all odds and half the stadium bitched out and missed something historic. Stay.

This is not an endearing stance to take. The Rams must be punished and a fire and brimstone spin on the once-popular "Parmesan Basil" persona would be much more interesting. Yeah Callahan's story isn't complete without mentioning how he took Nebraska from a still pretty elite program to an also ran in the Big 12 North.

That being said, I can understand leaving early if you have kids or something. Not that I'd bring kids to an NFL game, but you get the idea. Some people just have different priorities.

it's hard to tell on the broadcast, but if you look at the All-22 you can see that their formations actually spell out the name of the routes the receivers will run.

there's always a few "we knew what plays they were gonna run before they ran them!" stories every year. I think it's usually just players overexaggerating - like, they're supposed to diagnose these plays before the snap, and if they do it right a bunch of times it must feel like they have the other team's number. and a team like the Rams doesn't have the most versatile set of receivers, they're probably limited in what they're able to do in any given alignment. and they never really give specifics or go into detail about how they know, it's always just mentioned in passing.

obviously if it's a situation like Chip Kelly only running 6 plays per game, or you have a player that used to be on the other team calling out plays from the sideline, that's different, but I don't know how much I buy into that narrative. I think it just means they guessed right

Chris Brown did a great writeup on Kelly's offense and how easy it was to identify plays about to be run based on personnel and positioning:

Yeah he was OC in 2014 but formally stripped of playcalling duties in 2015. I'm on the fence about him as an Oline coach--on the one hand, the Cowboys' line is great. On the other hand, there's a lot of talent there so it's hard to tell how much of that is Oline coaching.
