I'm wondering whether it's truly fake. It was 'created' by the Darkhold, right? Maybe it's not so much fake as using the computer tech to access a parallel universe. Also, the whole "if you die here, you die in the real world" plot point feels like artificial tension, especially when they made it clear that it wasn't the case in the previous simulations that May had been encountering (when we saw her beating Aida, she was told something like "this is the furthest you've come.") If it were actually transferring minds to an actual parallel world, the concept feels more alien and thus I'm more willing to buy the contrivance.

Then again, maybe the simulation is just so complex that it overloads your nano-brain-magic or whatever. It is a comic book, after all.

Also it occurs to me that the 'leave' device they have (which doesn't work) was probably just code. And if they were in a real but parallel dimension then it doesn't explain why Simmons got a new body (albeit with old clothes with bullet holes.) So never mind, I guess.

We probably shouldn't think about how the framework functions too hard or it just won't make any sense as to why Aida doesn't catch / kill them instantly.

That brings up a good point. Do they have the right to shutdown the Framework? This is Darkholde magic, and, if Project Looking Glass is what it sounds like, it is more a parallel reality than a virtual one. Even Jemma was impressed by how complex the "programming" seems to be. These are people, virtual people, but people none-the-less. They have lives and memories and dreams.
Shutting it down would murder billions of independent consciousnesses.

They aren't real people. The only real people are the team, Agnes :rip: and Radcliffe.

I think there's a good chance no one cares about simulated matrix people except a few folks in this thread. The framework will get turned off and no one will mention it again except maybe Mack. The only satisfying conclusion I can see for that is if Aida becomes human, immediately turns off the framework as she has no use for it anymore, and then ghost rider shows up and stares at her for 7 billion 'deaths'.

Of course I also thought it was really dumb how she could previously re-write the framework at will to suit her needs, but apparently now she's just as vulnerable as anyone else inside of it. And she also needs to plug into it like a human, because I guess darkhold computers can't multitask at all. So my views on AIs and simulated realities are very different from the show runners.

It'll be this. Mack will feel super sad about losing his fake daughter but that's it. I bet there will even be a quip before they shut it down.

Yeah this, gosh real shame that your daughter disappeared but you'll get over it. I mean, the framework basically overwrote what a person wanted to do compared to before they went in (most prominently seen in Fitz), so maybe real Mack's thoughts and feelings toward Hope wouldn't be as strong as the Framework Mack who only has memories of a life with her.

You could also make him feel a lot better by giving him first crack at the evil robot. Mack hates him some robots.

Argue posted:

It's not Hope in that it's not the same person, and maybe the idea of her having a soul is debatable (as people have argued earlier in the thread), but Hope is more than just an idea fashioned from Mack's memories. She's a recreation of the actual Hope inasmuch as everyone else in the Framework is a recreation of a real person. Again, they've explicitly said this in the past--in the ep right before the Framework arc started, they straight up say that the Framework is a duplicate of our world, and that it's populated with the 7 billion people from our world, and the way Aida got doubles of 7 billion people in there is through the magic of the Darkhold.

They don't have souls and they aren't real. Remember when Daisy told Jemma not to feel bad about killing Allister because he was a collection of 1s and 0s? And she would know because she's also a techno wizard computer hacker
