Wife and I have saved more than enough and aren't worried at all about the money. If I don't get paid full on the 15th we can always leave to Japan while we wait for the next move. I know one or two people that are living paycheck to paycheck so if I were in that situation yes I'd worry, but my entire mantra has been "you have to be able to up and leave at a moments notice in China" and we'll see if everyone has taken that advice. I mean my first paycheck in China I put 7,000rmb in my sock drawer for an emergency ticket if I needed it. I never have but you should always be ready to leave...always.

Well the society as a whole is p big on the notion of not creating a nuisance for surrounding people, so that would help create that impression. On the other hand there's signs on train platforms asking people to refrain from headbutting and throwing liquids on the station conductors so there's a pretty big range of variation I guess.

It actually speaks really well of most Americans that despite knowing the best language they're very open, indeed eager to become multi-lingual. What they lack is opportunity and the motivation to overcome it. After all, they speak the best language and so does the rest of the world to some extent or another.

Parallel to this is the abysmal level of English spoken in China. It's pretty depressing to think that such a large percentage of the earth's population lacks the gumption to learn the most important language in the world despite more than adequate resources being made available to them for free by the state and ample encouragement from the same to make full use of them. I don't see how Mandarin speakers outnumbering English speakers says anything good about the language, rather it says something really bad about the people.

It hasn't been tested ever really but it's almost certain that there is no such thing as a dogfight any more, if you get seen you get a missile up your rear end and there's no way to dodge a modern anti air missile. However the last time there were possible dogfights having better visibility was one of the most important things about your aircraft as a lot of scenarios lead to this pattern of your plane and your opponent's plane trying to go straight to into the air to get higher than the other one. At some point no jet can sustain going straight up any more and tips back toward earth and at this point you really want to be able to see your opponent so you can either plan for a round two if he's higher than you by twisting into a position that forces that or else come down on top of him so you can shoot at him if you're higher. There are probably other reasons too but feedback from pilots is going to involve visibility pretty often.

Isn't this the exact same thing they said about the F4 and probably some other planes only to find out that due to convoluted rules of engagement dogfights weren't only happening but common?
