"Critical Race Theory" must be polling well with the rubes because I've seen it popping up all over reactionary media.

I can already hear how it's explained to them, "It says you're racist because you're white and all of America is racist and we have to change to stop being racist." And then they make up a bunch of incredibly stupid bullshit "changes".

AFAIK, "changes" aren't a part of it. They're just mad that they're being called racist, full stop.

Covid killed 600,000+ people in the US and who knows how many worldwide but this 2 1/2 hour long video on Youtube where a couple of yobs with a goddamn sword sitting on the table in the background flog snake oil is just so much more convincing than actual epidemiologists.

It's convincing because no one's talking about it, and more authoritative sources would reject it out of hand. It just means the knowledge is being suppressed. That's how the conspiracy theorist mind works.

As hilarious as our guy himself described it, that whole view is distressingly common.

My partner works in a warehouse atm. 50-80% of the day is working alone picking products and packing them for shipment, with no interaction needed other than being able to hear the forklift or cherrypicker if it's about. Despite this, so much as an earbud in one ear on the floor is a fireable-on-the-spot offence.

By contrast, when I did a similar job stocking a grocery store overnight, we could spend the whole shift with music or podcasts. Not an offence as long as you practiced basic reason and didn't play music so loud it hosed you or something else up.

Guess which one is horrible drudgery and which one lets you get in a grove and suddenly realize you completed your whole workload halfway through the shift? Guess which one keeps employees for a 30 year career and which one regularly sees people nocall noshow inside of a week? Guess the rate of injuries despite the exact same equipment from boxcutters to forklifts to trucks?

There's research to back this up too. Listening to music makes people more productive.

I mean, your body is amazing at fighting those things, you just have to get it fired up to do so first. Which is exactly what a vaccine does: it activates your body's natural defense mechanisms (that God made, I suppose).

Basically a normal bullet is more like a needle, in that it can pierce through things like armor or walls, but only leaves a relatively small hole where it passes through. While a hollow-point is more like a hammer, in that it transfers more force to what it hits, but that force is spread out over a larger area so it can't penetrate as far.

Maybe that's a terrible analogy, I dunno.

Legally speaking "assault" is just threatening someone, like approaching them menacingly and shouting at them or whatever. "Battery" is the part where it becomes physical.

There's definitely the sexism thing too, but I think the point here is more that "your adulterous wife" is an insult directed at the husband, not the wife. It's not even a matter of morality, it's a matter of him being too weak to "control" his wife.

Edit: This works at least slightly in both directions: Hillary Clinton having a cheating husband is also way to insult Hillary.

Also just in general, thinking the president is creating policies to fight inflation, and being mad about it because the president is a Democrat.

The idea is that those are supposed to be bad things that will hurt the economy in the long run, sort of like the old nugget of "reckless government spending" on useful services somehow hurting us. Except in this case the writer doesn't seem to have any idea why or how those things are connected to inflation. So it kind of sounds like "Biden is recklessly causing inflation in order to fight inflation!"

Edit: This interpretation is weakened by the fact that "pumping oil" was also on that list.
