The way I see it, oversaturating the Star Wars market will eventually make it super easy for me to move on past it. I just wanna see 7-9. I'm good after that. Frankly, I'm not even interested in Rogue One.

I went back and finished that re:View of The Gate. Josh was good in it, mostly for the masterful setup of the Ishtar punchline. Dude nearly broke once Jay made the big reveal. A+ episode, will watch again.

Well, he already pointed out his thoughts on TFA, I'm sure with Rogue One he's just expecting more of the same. Rogue One is going to be a weird movie. I can't honestly say I'm the slightest bit excited for it.

The whole movie feels like it'd be better served by a 30-40 minute short. A full blown movie elaborating on poo poo I already knew just seems pointless. Her dad made the death star? Irrelevant. Force-sensitive zatoichi hates the empire? Irrelevant. Forest Whitaker is now a cyborg? Borderline call. If they wanted to make a whole movie about this, make it stand alone. Making it a prequel to IV just sucks all the intrigue out of it.

I think the actress probably went to defend her character because the majority of people bitching about Mary Sue poo poo on Twitter aren't the people discussing it in here. Instead of "I think Rey's a bit of a Mary Sue in TFA," you get "REY IS MARY SUE LAZY poo poo WRITING FUCKIN FEMINIST ABRAMS #MENMATTER2" I can understand being upset if she's getting bombarded with more of the latter than the former. Personally, I felt she did come across as a bit of a Mary Sue in TFA but I'm intrigued enough by her mysterious backstory to give it a pass. If it leads to a disappointing payoff in Ep. 8 or 9, then the whole thing will leave a bad taste in my mouth. I'm willing to wait and see, though.

just saw Dr. Strange and the movie reminded me of Ant Man. Mostly due to it being self contained; ain't gonna see much more than the Avengers tower in a wide shot. I enjoyed it; it did a decent job introducing yet another aspect to the MCU. Magic is crazyyyyyyyyyy

Anyone who expected quality from Space Cop deserves to get laughed at. I paid good money for a movie that I knew was trolling me with its very existence. I regret nothing. I think Mike's character made me laugh harder than anything else. Somehow more out of place than a god drat time traveling space cop.

Rogue One was 1/3 of an awesome movie. First 2/3s were okay stuff, but holy gently caress does it nail the third act. As it is, I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of ten.

There is a space battle and land battle happening simultaneously, with both sides affecting the other, and Vader appears in the last five minutes and walks down a hallway. By the time he reaches the end of the hallway, you realize why people are loving terrified of the man who hates sand.

temple posted:Why is that a bad thing? Why is wanting to see legendary events like the dumbest gayest thing ever to people? Cause it will disappoint. People craft these ideas in their own brains, and 99% of the time when a movie tries to give you those legendary moments it winds up lackluster to what people dreamed up on their own. And then the lackluster adaptation is solidified as canon.
