Just finished previewing Power Rangers. Y'know, it wasn't a complete disaster, and there were even some parts that I genuinely enjoyed. The pacing/editing of the back half was a friggin mess though. On the other hand, mega zord German suplex, so....

Ghost in the Shell has an explanation for the white washing in its script. Cute. Y'know, the movie has the same slow pace as the first animated film, and despite everything I got the feeling that the head honcho behind this adaptation really wanted to do the franchise justice. I don't know if I'd call it good, but it certainly tried its damndest.

1)R1 was an okay movie that had a ridiculously awesome finale. Everything aside from that was ultimately forgettable, which is why I get real kneejerky when people claim it's the best Star Wars movie in the franchise. Empire is a better, more exciting film from start to finish. Consistency is a big deal to me. R1 is kinda similar to RotJ in that regard; awesome finales tarnished by baffling decisions in the middle. Ewoks, random space terrorist leader, it's all the same. 2)300, part deux, was hilarious for its battle sex scene and that was really enough for me to
