Also I was kind of annoyed by the Embiid hype but this man is so loving entertaining. He took 16 shots in 22 minutes as a center 👏🏼😁🤘🏻

It was and his strategy was perfectly legitimate. Philly has a much better chance of being a top-4 seed in the next few years than bad teams who chased mediocre trade and free agency targets and are still just bad, like Sacramento or Phoenix.

we don't have to have this argument for the millionth time, but Philadelphia is still very far from being good and it's not legit to make your franchise bad for 10 years in order to finally contend. The 6ers had some unique set-backs, but if they had genuinely hit on any of the early picks, they would have been damned to the kings/suns 4-8 zone anyway.

Duncan and Curry were both drafted by those teams.

The Warriors and Spurs also drafted Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Manu Ginobli, Tony Parker, and Kawhi Leonard

Literally no owner would sign up for their team to actively be bad for 4-6 years. Hinkie was fired because he was loving terrible at executing his strategy. They flopped in draft after draft and kept kicking the can to being good down the road. The 76ers won 10 games last year and only have two, possibly four, promising young players. Embiid is cool.

well then you're buying into being actively terrible for 5 years as a strategy, which no owner would sign up for.

If Hinkie had drafted any presently good players with his myriad of high firsts (Noel, MCW, Saric, and Embiid have played like a combined season for the sixers) they wouldn't have been bad enough to draft high enough to get Okafor or Simmons.

I will say that Hinkie was very good at turning his gently caress ups into future value.

Obviously it's only two games but I'm pretty concerned with Aldridge. His defensive effort seems pretty spotty at best. Gasol hasn't been good defensively but I expect him to improve, it seems like he's having a lot of communication issues. Aldridge just looks lazy at times.

That's my hot take. He's going to be traded for AD and the Spurs aren't going to lose another game.
