Here's my user page! Been a huge fan of the site & use it everyday since late 2011.

For TIFF every September, we've got a Letterboxd in Toronto list, where we discuss our film schedules and plan meet-ups during the festival. We had a good 15 people together on day 1, and on our 2nd meet-up [of course the one I missed], Letterboxd Admins actually paid for a round of beers. We've been doing it a few years now and know people pretty well ranging from the Toronto area, to New York, to Nashville, and as far as Norway.

Here's a collection of other "Letterboxd in ________" city gatherings, if interested.

I use the site mainly as a way to track (and sometimes review) my own films I watch, but of course it's great fun to create lists/tags and comment on others'. The people there are typically great and respectful. I've come across very little trolling, but I don't exactly go looking for it either.

I also have the app on my iPad, but I mainly use it's desktop site as a great time-filler at work.

I'm also a Patron [the level above "Pro"] and figure for all my time spent using the site, it's the least I can do. The "Year in Review" thing is fun in itself.

I think I've added everyone from here back. Looking forward to seeing what you goons have to say about these series of still images put together to create the illusion of movement! I've got a Doctor Strange (and maybe Arrival if I can go see it tomorrow) review on deck but I'm doing a lot of traveling for work the last two weeks that's eating into my "sit and write" time.

On the subject of reviews, since the star system is so subjective, how do you personally approach it? I struggle sometimes to consider a movie on its own merits instead of comparing it to others I've given similar scores to, which I think leads me to inflate scores a bit. I'm thinking of going with something a bit more defined:

5 - Think everyone should see
4 - Really good, would definitely recommend and rewatch.
3 - Fine, would recommend if you're interested but probably wouldn't rewatch.
2 - Disappointing, wouldn't rewatch.
1 - Wish I hadn't seen at all.

Curious about other guidelines that you fine folk may use.

I followed you, but don't see you following back :colbert:

Also, for the star ratings, I've got
5* = Masterpiece
4.5* = Outstanding
4* = Great
3.5* = Good
3* = Average
2.5* = Disappointing
2* = Not For Me
1.5* = Terrible
1* = Embarrassing
0.5* = Why did this get made?

Which is pretty generic, and some can be fairly arbitrary going anywhere from 0 to 3... I like your logical reasons better than my one-word descriptions. I may adjust mine to make more sense.
I also haven't had time to write all the reviews I've wanted to lately. It's tough trying to catch up when I'll usually use my free time to watch something vs write a few reviews.

Woah there tiger! Who are you? I've followed anyone that popped up on my feed or was in the OP. I've been on a plane all day today so it's possible I missed someone.

Edit: are you SafeDriver? I went though my recent activity and that was the only one missing.

Edit 2 for content: I spent all day on a plane working on a presentation for work instead of thinking and writing words about movies and when I got to the client site they cancelled the meeting. :argh:

haha it's totally fine. Although it's not fine what happened to you. That's brutal.

My apologies - here's my LB profile

Rumble in the Bronx has a great Jackie Chan supermarket fight... no guns I don't believe, but I could be wrong.

Anyone else keep a list of movies they've missed but definitely want to see from a given year? Here's mine from 2016.

I've done that for 2013+ onward, and before that I just added those films in the description of my Ranked films from that year.
I just liked your list - we have a lot of the same films listed, and if it wasn't for film festivals, I wouldn't have the same luck seeing so many.

This is my ranked films from 2016, and a link inside for ones I've missed last year.

It is 2017, we can all admit Freddy Got Fingered is phenomenal. We don't have to pretend anymore.

I frequently forget that movie ever existed..

What you're saying is, it's an overlooked gem that's way ahead of it's time?

I wish Letterboxd had television shows as well. Is there a Letterboxd equivalent that supports TV programs?

Added you and liked your review of The Circle... I really was looking forward to it until I saw how horrible the reviews were.

Android user here. Oh well, maybe when they finally launch the android app.

My substitute for this on my S7 is just to make a home-screen button for the Letterboxd.com home page. Feels like an app but just loads the browser which works just fine.

Hey all, I'm hoping obsessively logging and reviewing everything I watch will help motivate me into watching more movies. https://letterboxd.com/amalenczak/ is my account, and I followed everyone in the OP.

Followed you back - and yes it will motivate you! At least, it does for me.

Followed a few more of you here.

Playing along with this least-viewed movie, mine happens to be Five Aces - a '99 bachelor party film with Charlie Sheen & Shooter McGavin that is nothing like what you'd hope or expect it would be. Only 16 other people have apparently watched it.

194 here... just under half! Great idea for a list and I'll make sure to bookmark it.
