You said it doesnt have to be deep, so i would suggest Pillars of Eternity. The devs themselves said they didnt do as well with the home base as they wanted, but it adds some fun new fights, the massive multi trip dungeon of the game is underneath it, and you get a neat large scale battle to keep it.

Excuse me sir, but bell peppers belong to the same genus as peppadews, and are in fact the same species as jalapenos

Though if you want to be technical none of them are real peppers since pepper originally referred to peppercorn specifically, but was a fad word used to describe any pungent spice around the time we started stealing seeds from the Americas. Which is how it became the common name for the delicious fruits we all love.

I want an assasin game to have a mission that plays out like Franz Ferdinand's death. You meet a buddy at a bar to plan it out and suddenly the person walks or drives right by you so it's just this chaotic moment of opportunity that escalates into figuring out how to escape in all the chaos.

I'm playing Dead Space 1 for the first time and here are my thoughts so far:

-The Plasma Cutter or whatever it's called (the default gun) seems to be by far the best thing to use. I've tried some of the other weapons and it's the only one that can seemingly kill anything, including bosses.
-However I'm finding that I burn through the ammo super quickly. Like I just finished the boss at the end of Chapter 6 and went from around ~120 bullets to less than 20. I have the Force Gun to use for a while but again, it feels like it kind of sucks compared to the Cutter.
-Game is good but also very stressful.

Buy ammo for other guns or dont get other guns. The game drops ammo for what you dont have, so if youre full on everything else it will only drop ammo for the cutter.

The easiest achievment is besting the game using nothing but the cutter. I missed it because i didnt learn that tip until too late.

There's some minor changes in levels and dialogue but for the most part it's the same. The final level is the exact same unlike the first game where it changed significantly depending on your Chaos level.

Having just started the first game, i can see how that might be offputing, because kills raise chaos and like 90%of the upgrades are about murdering people. It takes an upgrade and limited ammo to knock people out if you get seen, and at least for the first assassination, the nonlethal version is a bit of a burden. So the amount of chaos is based more on your skill than letting you make decisions.

I think I bounced off The Witcher 3 three or four times. Not because any of it was bad, but just because it's so dense. Every new area seems to open up at least one new multi quest plotline that could potentially be the main quest in some other RPG. While they're all interesting and complex, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

I didnt get a chance to mention it when we were talking about episodic content, but witcher 3 does it really well with the dlc, where it starts you at an appropriate level for the dlc which is nicely self-contained. I highly recommend doing hearts of stone if the main quest and area has you feeling lost like this.

I think next year someone will come up with a VR app that will let you watch replays or live MOBA battles through a VR headset and allow you to control time, angle, zoom, and maybe even picture-in-picture so you can follow more than one character at a time, all while being able to provide you with additional information above the field of play or with different types of overlays. Watching the matches now is a little disorienting if you're not very familiar with the game, but if you could see all the action from above as well as lean in for a closer look or otherwise manipulate the playback it would take the experience to another level.

Valve is already on that like white on rice my friend.

Different kinds of games. Different strokes.

Some people are good at crazy fast on-the-fly thinking and muscle memory required for combo memorization and counters in fighting games. Some people prefer learning a specific role and working as part of a team as part of a longer, more management/rts-style war game, some people prefer just racing each other to see who can complete a game the fastest, and some people prefer games where the goal is to just get the most kills with whatever gun you have.

In addition to this, DOTA specifically has 112 different heroes that could potentially fit someone's brain and playstyle perfectly which feels even better than winning imo.
Which kind of comes back to the feel of combat like we were all talking about earlier. I know how to play all 112, i know how to play 110 well, but i probably only really enjoy playing 30 or so.

Re: HotS, i think the reason it's not as successful as planned is because people who like mobas think it's a bit too simple, and people who dont like mobas dont like mobas.
Though iirc plenty of high skill dota players play hots and/or hearthstone during their stupidly long queues.
