This post is only sort of Dad-related, because it's about getting a job and our dads would definitely want us to get jobs.

Anyway, people have been telling me since the beginning of time that I should do voiceover work and blah blah whatever. Last week I actually went in and recorded a no-poo poo demo reel and had it mastered by professional audio engineers. I picked up the disc today and it sounds awesome. The guy who runs the studio says that he really likes my voice and that I take direction well. He went ahead and forwarded my demo to an agency, so I'm already one step ahead in the job-getting process.

As a bonus: the dude asked me to come in next month to do a read-through for a TWC Spectrum commercial they're doing. Maybe I'll get it!

Congrats!

My dad does this (he used to do news radio) in his spare time and has a sound booth and all sorts of audio engineering equipment for it. He loving loves it and I think he secretly wishes he would get laid off from his current employer so he could do it full time.

Late to housing/neighbor chat, but I have an old chinese neighbor next door who cooks amazing food for us occassionally. On the other side is a bunch of Thai and Cambodian immigrants that share a group house and work most of the time. We pay 2400 for a two (three if you count the finished attic) bedroom house. It's expensive as poo poo, but I have a nice yard and I can walk to the metro or bars, so it's worth it for now.
