If they make them start buying into the GI bill it makes it infinitely harder to take those benefits away. $2400 for the worlds greatest college scholarship is still a great deal.

Right on, good to see you were able to use the GI bill, I was concerned that perhaps you were somehow not aware of the benefit or something. Are you a chemist or a chemical engineer? Those are the only two jobs I know of at chemical plants. And congrats on the better more flexible job and your decision to further your education. That shits awesome man. When do you usually see BAH and book stipends pay out? I just finished my first week of school and already had to lay out $789 for books.. so I’m really rather curious as to when I can expect to see the money come in. This is my first time using Post 9/11 GI bill- if that matters for whatever reason. My monthly disability funbux paid out on time but nothing else has. Should I just expect it to happen randomly and without rhyme or reason? Are they just letting chaos reign down at the VA during the shutdown?

False, completely false. VR&E isn’t affected by post 9/11 benefits left, and it’s also no longer the case the other way around. Using VR&E no longer drains your Post 9/11, and your Post 9/11 no longer drains your VR&E. I’d recommend using VR&E first for your undergrad. Mostly because it’s much easier to get the counselors to sign off on your plan if it’s your undergrad. Not that they won’t pay for grad school or law school or whatever, it’s just a ton of hoop jumping and begging with some counselors. Meanwhile, once you complete a program with VR&E they will make it very hard to start another program, even if you’ve got benefits remaining. Meanwhile post 9/11 is dead simple to use and anywhere it’s accepted your good to go (Some schools are more expensive than what post 9/11 will cover but most of those have Yellow Ribbon as a fall back) at your own leisure and with nobody but yourself to answer to. If I got this wrong, let me know, but this was a recent change.
