I have a copy of Supposed a Knave by Kierhan Meehan, a graphic novel featuring the characters of his excellent strip Pros and Cons. I would like to post it here, but I don't know if that's cool. The content is obviously thread-relevant, but is posting a graphic novel spinoff considered :filez:?
Seems pretty clearly off limits to me. It's never been published in a newspaper or website or made freely available in any form. It's a regular book, not a collection of previously published strips. It is really good though and I'd recommend buying it to anyone who likes Pros & Cons.

Hope you like twenty-year-old movies recorded off the TV that you can barely watch through the static. Actually, you'd be lucky to get even that, it's probably already broken, and if it isn't then it will be as soon as you try to play one of those tapes in it.

You know what's a great way to show how tall someone is? Put them next to other really tall people.

Also, I've always wondered about some of those paralympic events. Why is there a running race for blind people? Why didn't those four just go in the real olympics? They're obviously fast enough to qualify.

WickedHate posted:

See you could make a decent joke about Sluggo being a hobo child(was he always meant to be that way or is that just how boys in the 30s dressed?) but Gilchrist is always just using every character in the strip for out of place nostalgia porn.
I don't think Sluggo's poverty is supposed to be a joke, it's supposed to be endearing.

Nenonen posted:

He doesn't live in a cardboard box. He lives alone in an abandoned house that's probably horrendously unsafe for anyone, let alone a child. Because he's too proud to accept charity and all the adults who know him respect him too much to force charity on him.

Ripley's doesn't show it, but the blind runners run in tandem with a sighted guy who keeps them in lane and lets them know if anything's in the way.

If that works for the paralympics, why not allow it in the regular olympics as well? It doesn't seem like it would confer any kind of advantage.

Nope. My problem is that I have an SD card with tons of free space and my phone keeps complaining that it can't update stuff because there's no free space because for some reason it can't use the SD card for installing apps. :argh:

Johnny Walker posted:

This is a little off-topic, but I am reminded of how much of a ripoff TV shows on VHS were, not to mention what a waste of space it was. They put literally one episode per tape most of the time. To have a whole series you'd have to have a dedicated shelf just for that one, and probably pay ~$20 per, and for any longer-running series it was completely impractical.
It didn't end with VHS either.

I also have one here that's ten random episodes of Voltron. Sure, it's better than one episode, but it's hardly ideal.

It is, but that's out of a 26-episode season, and if you bought all of classic Doctor Who that way it's 155 DVDs (as opposed to 26 if it was one per season). It's fine, I suppose, if you're just buying a few of your favourite stories, but it's ridiculous if you want a complete collection.

If you're making a left, yes. Pull out so you can turn as soon as traffic going the other way stops or somebody on the other side make a left.

There are places around here where you would have to wait for the light to cycle 3 or 4 times to get anywhere if people making lefts didn't wait in the intersection.

I think we're going to need a diagram or something, because I can't figure this out at all. If traffic's moving left-right in that image then he can't pull into the intersection because he'd be blocking it. If traffic's moving up-down then pulling forward wouldn't do anything at all, he'd still be in front of the person he's in front of now. As far as I can see, all he can do is wait for the lights to stop traffic in both directions and allow left turns.

Obviously it's a prop. You're not supposed to think otherwise. You're seeing a magic trick. You know it's a magic trick. The mystery isn't whether or not it's a trick, it's how it was done. It doesn't help to know that the box is a prop, because of course it is. That's how magic tricks work. The question is, can you figure out how it works? Even knowing there's a hidden compartment doesn't necessarily tell you the answer.

Feel free to try and explain it but someone already did many pages ago and it went in one ear and out the other. I can appreciate that a fairly middling drama strip turned actually dramatic, but I'm still lost.
If you know who the characters are and how they're related and you've been following it since the writer changed and that's not enough then I'm not sure what could possibly help you understand, because you pretty much know everything anyone else does.

This comic annoys me so much, because it's a solid idea (he takes old comics and changes the dialogue), but limiting it to a single panel per day with no continuity just wastes it. It's never funny; each panel on its own is so bland there's basically nothing to make fun of, so all you get is the authors own jokes, which are terrible and gain nothing by being turned into comics.
