After years of being unable to play it, I have finally obtained a copy and played a few hours into the predecessor of my favorite game of all time - Dark Souls. I am now that much more grateful it exists because I can't comprehend how a game as bad as Demon's Souls got a sequel.

Samuel Clemens posted:They Shoot Zombies films on Youtube, entries 101-200. The gaps in my list are so few and far between that it's nice to start picking some off. That said, Eyes Without a Face immediately jumps into my personal top 50 horror. That mask should be more iconic and the fact they pulled off a face flaying in 1960 is incredible. The Innocents is a snooze.

I absolutely adore it, which is part of why I was so disappointed in Innocents - they definitely share some DNA. The Haunting does one of the best jobs in history of slow burning, marinating in subtlety until a fairly relentless final act. The Innocents tries to have it both ways but can't maintain its tone once its reveals the plot is overtly supernatural. The rest of the film is a variation on one or two scenes until a limp ending. There's almost nothing memorable about it.

Just watched Audition for the first time and holy moly. I've never seen a movie do that scene so well. Restraint is the key word that every single movie that tried to do this but MORE XXTREEEEEMEEEE doesn't understand is what makes the final twenty minutes so goddamned powerful. At the same time, I sort of wish the movie stuck with the it was all a dream ending because it seems more cohesive to be a film about a father's fear and anxiety at dating after becoming a widow.

I feel like the best podcasts are just recording poo poo you would already be talking about. It's why We Hate Movies works where How Did This Get Made does not. Boogey's Nameless Cults does the same thing where it sounds like you're in on a discussion that is naturally occurring. With or without podcasting I find myself defending and talking about how much I love pop music and why it's important. tl;dr the worst podcasts feel forced and who would listen to that poo poo?
