just listened to the war nerd interview with the guy who broke iran-contra and its infuriating. the extent to which the nyt, wapo etc went to destroy its own and other reporters careers and have effectively become propaganda outlets for the us government is more hosed up than i even imagined

this really is the best podcast out there, i just wish they'd fuckin do half free/half paid eps or something to get more exposure. hell their episodes are three hours long, so they could easily split a recorded ep and put the second half behind the paywall. someone mail dolan my brilliant idea

this was the guy they interviewed btw: http://theselongwars.blogspot.com/?m=1 he seemed pretty critical of the pak military in general but strangely supportive of their actions in tribal and pashtun areas where they comitted a shitload of atrocities, which was odd

latest war nerd was incredible. the part about the real estate bubble in the mideast in places like dubai hit home because i know people who worked construction there and worked on all these completely pointless fancy modern buildings with like no tenants i may be wrong but i think the bubble picked up steam again in the last few years despite the 2008 crash, all the fuckin black embezzled money from third world politicians and businessmen seems to love financing construction there. also funny to hear that the yemen war costs 300 million/day wtf how could that be true or sustainable? mila kunis has issued a correction as of 22:20 on Sep 5, 2018 |
