Not only would he make bank for doing what comes natural to him, but he'd still be able to prove his intellectual superiority to Batman by beating him to the punch... without going to Arkham for it. The two became uneasy allies for a time and it came to an end when one writer had Riddler survive an explosion and suddenly go, "I now remember that Batman is Bruce Wayne and I'm evil again!" I'm more upset about them going the same route with Bane. Having him clean of Venom and having settled his beef with Batman (he even asked Bruce for help every now and then!) was much more interesting than the junkie obsessed with Batman that seemingly can't go five minutes without saying how he will break you. gently caress you DC

Turns out all the Indigo Lanterns are the worst sociopaths in the universe forced to feel empathy by their rings. The idea being that after servicing under the corps for a long time they would be rehabilitated. And let's not forget the White Lanterns

With Rebirth they seem to finally got their groove back by retconning and/or reversing most of the changes until a state similar to the one it was when Johns left. Although this came with the reversing of a lot of character development for many secondary characters like Atrocitus or Kyle.

That said, Jason's point is to highlight the differences between his and Roy's mindset. Roy is an optimist, always willing to give everyone a second chance and whom really wants to be a hero. Jason on the other hand is cynical and his attempt to believe on people backfired, leading to Roy's predicament. The scene ends with Jason dissolving his partnership with Roy so he wouldn't be dragged on Jason's mindset as well.
