Sooo, that's 90% of anime games on steam at risk then? Like, almost all of them are set in high schools, and have some level of "fanservice".

The game page suggests that the main dude has gotten turned into a cat, and while I don't know how normal that sort of thing is at this point for these games, "you can romance like four girls while being a goddamn cat" seems... kind of weird?

On the other hand, Nekopara has been on Steam for ages, so that can't be the deciding factor.

I loved that Microsoft opened the Gears segment last E3 with the Gears Pop announcement, then continued to present XCOM Gears, and finally went "OK, there's also a proper Gears game coming, take a look at this"

I'm actually not sure if it's specified to what extent you have to control access in the EU regulations. I didn't find anything when I quickly searched the EU legislation about requiring IDs and such, so I think it might be Google overreaching. (Or I just suck at searching)

If it wasn't for the effort put into the art (someone has spent some nonzero time drawing and it's not just an asset flip) I would have assumed it was a direct response to and callout of that Sex With Stalin game. Like, the devs want to provoke Valve into either allowing both or deleting both. If one game with a horny genocidal dictator is allowed, why isn't the other?

The full description makes it a bit more clear, some streamer got caught touching a child and went to prison, and in the game you are playing the child and has to avoid the streamer that somehow escaped from prison. Survival horror-ish. Still a stupid and bad game.

seems pretty clear that they hope to ensnare someone that forgets to refund or goes over the time limit, if they actually wanted people to play their game for free they could just release it for free and have a separate supporter DLC pack

Dark_Swordmaster posted:

Out of curiosity, how do refunds work on the back end?

Let's say I buy a $60 title. Valve takes their 30%, in this case for simplicity we'll round to $20. That leaves the creator with $40, ignoring any licensing or whatever else they have to pay.

If I refund it do they get their $40 and Valve gets their $20 pulled back or is it more complex than that? I'm just picturing the extreme edge case of someone making a game that sells well, they spend the money paying for I don't know food or shelter, then everyone refunds it and they, what, are suddenly left in the hole possibly a negative balance after spending the profits?

Obviously this is an oversimplification but I still don't know how refunds work behind the scenes.

The two weeks auto-refund time probably coincides nicely with Valve's payout schedule, so developers only get paid for games that weren't refunded in the two week window. Refunds outside that window probably only subtracts from your current pending payout, so unless for some reason the number of games that get refunded late outstrip the number of games sold, you never should get in Valve's debt.

I don't get the hype behind live AI characters, because the lack of control over the output means you can't use those characters for anything plot centric, so they would simply be delegated to filler NPCs.
