It's not exactly hard to paint a room. Sounds like you'll need to do very little prep and obviously no need for undercoat. The longest part of the job is always cutting in, so choose a tint that's close to the ceiling so 'painting outside the lines' won't be noticeable. If you need any specific tips just ask.

Marshal of the drone air force, Ahmed Fahour is worth a pretty penny...

http://www.theage.com.au/business/senate-committee-denies-australia-post-attempt-to-keep-ahmed-fahours-salary-secret-20170207-gu7n05.html

quote:

A Senate committee has refused Australia Post's request to keep managing director Ahmed Fahour's $5.6 million salary a secret.

On Tuesday the committee chair, Senator James Paterson of Victoria, released the information after deciding it was overwhelmingly in the public interest.

"Fundamentally, the committee considers there are no compelling reasons for this particular information about the remuneration of senior executives at Australia Post to be hidden from public scrutiny," the committee wrote to the government-owned enterprise.

It shows one senior executive, presumably Mr Fahour, received a $4.4 million salary and a $1.2 million bonus. Five other executives received salaries ranging from $1.3 million to $1.8 million. One unnamed executive received a $380,000 retirement benefit.

Australia Post was asked to provide details about executive salaries during estimates in late 2016. Australia Post replied in January it would supply the information, but only in secret. It argued the information was personal and sensitive and should not be released because individuals "may become targets for unwarranted media attention", which could lead to brand damage.

The committee responded that public interest overrides those concerns and that "potential issues of personal safety and security do not appear to be compelling reasons to withhold publication". The committee informed Australia Post on Tuesday afternoon it would be publishing the information. Australia Post requested one week's notice before publishing the information, but this was denied.

etc.
That's a fair bit of coin whoring for eBay.

A very weird cat is good old Ahmed. Leaves you wondering why he would be trusted with a burnt match let alone a bank/postal service.

Firstly, Macdonald can get hosed. I am quite happy for former PMs to get a Gold Pass. You would hope that they might have some contribution to make post office and that should be facilitated. E.g. I'm more than happy for Keating to zip all over the nation handing people's arse to themselves. Everyone else as I've said, everyone else can get hosed.

To the other point. I know politicians might trade off private sector money for power of office glory and it elevates plenty of dipshits to money they could never earn in the world. Honestly though, the money is probably not that great to incentivise more quality candidates to throw their hats into the ring treating it as a genuine job and not just as some shiny arse who can't believe their loving luck.

Waste of time. You just get tagged as that person who can be pushed into even more unpaid hours.

Do what you do well in the hours you're paid. Get a good network going that doesn't only involve you and people who drink piss at the pub every Friday. Having people that will offer you guidance (and maybe air cover if you gently caress up) is very handy. When people start coming to you for advice you're doing it right.

Of course you will have to do overtime sometimes. That's life. If its not recognized get on LinkedIn and work on Plan B.

I will work jobs with crazy stupid hours sometimes if it's worth it. Some projects or jobs are too rare and/or lucrative to pass up. Knowing when it's worth it is just experience.

I went and broke down my parents' house a few months ago to get an idea of what happens with the market. This isn't crazy, they bought a nice home in a good suburb that was suitable for starting a family at the time. So the price of the house now isn't equivalent to Caroline Springs or something, but the argument stands when you look at wage growth and housing prices.

They bought a 3br in Surrey Hills VIC in 1986 for $86,000. This was around 110% of my dad's yearly income and he was ~40 years old I think.

The house is now worth $1.6m. This is 2000% of my yearly income as a 33 year old. I am not expecting my wage to grow by 2000% in the next 6 years.

If you take a similar house in the new burbs (which by comparison will be poorly built, poorly serviced and remote to employment opportunities) for $400,000 that's still 500% of my annual income. Similarly I am not expecting my wages to grow by 500% in the next 6 years.

Anyway what I'm saying is gently caress boomers they can suck a dick.
Surrey Hills is a very nice suburb. Why don't you just buy a vacant block near your parents house and build there?
