i think the first bad episode was the one where Lisa goes to the museum in season 9, it wasnt a terrible episode but probably the first one i can remember not liking

everything after season 11/12 has been puerile trash though, there have been maybe 3 or 4 good episodes between season 13 and 20.

the krusty comeback special is another good example, stacked with celeb cameos but it was really well done and the episode was fantastic

I never noticed this before (I recently rewatched a lot of this show it's still fresh in my mind) but at the 27 second mark when Bart runs down the hill, this is just a reused animation from the Kamp Krusty episode where the kids are running away from a rolling boulder, but with only Bart and the image is backwards.

i rewatch it every few years and notice new things all the time, jokes especially

like i was watching the episode where mr burns sells the plant the other day and found a new "smithers is gay joke" i totally missed the first few times i watched it

Watched Bart Gets an F last night for the first time since it aired and even if it's not a prime Simpsons episode it was great to see a kid acting like a kid whilst there were also still jokes and funny cutaways in the form of his imaginings. This is truth, man. Despite having a stupid, outlandish premise and the cringeworthy jockey elves scene, there are some real funny jokes and gags in that episode besides what was represented in those gifs.
Homer ordering that Bachman Turner Overdrive play Taking Care of Business over and over again, but skipping to the "working overtime" part of the chorus.

Edit: Stroke of luck I ended up posting this blindly when the episode in question was being quasi-praised right above me. Episode still sucks rear end.

I contend the Deep Space Homer (s5) is the first truly bad simpsons episode. The premise is contrived, and they guest voices (aldrin?) were poorly done. Some people just can't be voice actors. I bet it took 100 takes to get a suitable "Careful! They're rippled!" and the one they used is still pretty bad.
