I love how people in the media are now saying that this game parallels everything, from Tom Brady's career (yes, winning 3 Super Bowls in your first 5 years in the league is the equivalent of being down 25 in the 3rd quarter) or the Patriots 2016 season, where they lost a grand total of 2 games. Looking forward to Trump, Brady, Kraft, Belichick living it up at the White House.

shirts and skins posted:I think I agree with this. The Warriors series loss took more work, but I can't remember any particular point where the Cavs were wholly within the Warriors' power and had almost no sway in whether they were able to win. The Pats were absolutely hosed after that Julio catch, literally any points puts it out of reach. Two runs and what is basically an extra point (although you know the Pats would try to leap the line) and the Falcons take it. A lot can happen in one game, but the Falcons had this one by the balls and let it slip away. Yeah, if the Falcons just kneeled down 2 times and than kicked the FG from the ~25 yard line the Patriots would have had to burn all their timeouts and were in a 2 score game with about 3:30 left on the clock. Instead Atlanta hosed it up, gave them the ball back with 2 timeouts left and lost the game. In contrast to the series chokes, I'd argue that at least 50% of NFL teams would be able to win at from that position, because it did not require excellent play, just don't extremely stupid play.

evilweasel posted:like kraft has been well-known for a while as one of the most democratic-leaning of the nfl owners and one of the handful that donates to the democrats instead of the republicans Because they are long time friends, just like Bill and Tom. They probably don't agree with his policies, but for them, as they are not politicians and don't comment on political issues, friendship trumps politics. I guess to some part the fact that they all had to deal with hostile media and perceived unfairness in their professional life makes this bond even stronger.

Jiminy Christmas! Shoes! posted:The second guessing of the play calling on that drive is over the top. The Falcons had just ran the ball and lost a yard. So it's not like they didn't even try to run. How can people seriously complain about putting the ball in the hands of the league MVP and asking him to put the game away? Ex post analysis. Just like people still think Carroll was wrong to not hand the ball to Lynch in SB49.

It only shows greatness that Brady was able to adapt to a defensive game plan that very clearly was superior to the original Patriots offensive game plan during the Super Bowl and lead that comeback and it was his presence that inspired the Patriots defense to not give up but contribute to the greatest Super Bowl comeback ever.

So imagine your team just lost because your defense completly imploded - what would you do? This is how people on a chocker-team answer that question, they gloat about the one play they made in the Super Bowl.

Out of all the blame to be spread around, you cannot point the finger at him. If you put pretty much anyone on the planet in at 4:40, they would win the game. Just ignore the voice in your helmet, take the ball and kneel down - not that hard.

The next one will most likely be basketball or hockey and we KNOW the Cavs or Warriors or Spurs aren't going there. No one wants to go to Donnie's house because no one likes him. No team going to the White House has perfect attendance so I guess Trump just rolls with it and makes the best out of whoever comes, probably pointing out that the "hostile/failing" media does not treat players missing the visit to his White House the same they did with Obama, pointing out that people like Hightower and Brady missed the visit to Obama's WH too.
