I mean trying to "ban" that seems about as practical as banning piracy. Which is to say, not. If you're going to attempt to restrict access to it you'd need to go after the content hosts which would require international co-operation and probably won't be particularly affected either way by going after the end user. Fangz posted:Well, no ban can be absolute, but I think it's good that you can't sell anime child porn in high street shops in the UK. I would concur, but that again is an issue of attacking supply, which is more sensible than digital content bans which tend to be directed at the end user and utterly impotent outside of national jurisdiction. It's essentially running up against problems like drug bans and piracy bans and anything else that is incapable of actually attacking the supply of contraband. I think rather than trying to bang your head against that method with even more things an alternative approach might be advisable. OwlFancier fucked around with this message at 18:53 on Mar 6, 2017 |

But possibly far from sufficient if your goal is to prevent child abuse.

I think about my only interaction with animu aside from being on the internet was that I read yotsuba when I was younger. Which is odd because I feel like I got in at the deep end.

Yes but we don't want to pay for the healthcare of the poors so it all works out. You get to work joylessly while not unduly damaging the company property that is your body and the rich people get to have fun.

Speaking of illicit substances I might just commit a fairly heinous crime at the moment if I could have access to something that actually helped with this drat cough. Currently I'm just drinking lots of microwaved sprite and honey. gently caress all else seems to work.

jabby posted:The only cough syrups worth a crap are basically liquid codeine. They actually suppress the cough reflex, unlike other stuff which is just sugar syrup that soothes a tickly throat for about two minutes. This is my opinion from experience as well, I just chug golden syrup out of the bottle as it at least doesn't taste like hell.

Pochoclo posted:Sorry if this sounds ignorant but isn't NI basically the equivalent of paying for health insurance in other countries? It's a tax, nominally it's supposed to pay for pensions and the NHS and poo poo but they don't collect it in separate bags and cart it off to the local post office/hospital. It goes to HMRC and is collected the same way other taxes are, it just doesn't follow any of the rules of other taxes.

Hoops posted:I understand what this sentiment is, but I think you're working backwards in justification from the point of "Corbyn was correct to do what he did", and you've ended with the position that you should stop fighting when you lose. I don't think there's a very credible way that Corbyn, a man elected on a platform of "democracy is great" could turn around and say that democracy is bad when it gives a bad result. He's pretty committed to the idea that people have a right to democratically decide things and politicians should serve the result of that. I don't always agree with him on it but it's not really a surprise, he's been quite open about it from day 1.
