No, I'm sorry, its not. Largely because the goal of private industries is to make a profit, not purely exploration. NASA/JPL is far more equipped for exploration than SpaceX.

Granted, we should fully encourage SpaceX/etc. to continue, but they won't replace NASA.

Nah, because nobody wanted to compete with us for it. If Russia or China was really pushing a space program, NASA would be doing it.

Except it is not "far below the current standard." We're there. There's not enough money in the budget to recapitalize the neglected nuclear force, refresh the Navy's surface fleet and bring the average age of surface ships below 70% of their design lives (2015), recapitalize an Air Force that has been actively involved in combat operations since 1990 (and in some communities, stretching back to the early 80s) and has an average aircraft age of 27 years old (2015) but includes dozens of front-line planes designed and/or built in the 1950s and 60s, entice qualified, trained, and intelligent people to stay in uniform (ie stop the "brain drain" especially in the officer corps), and replace the 25% or more of high-end training that has been siphoned off for the past decade+. There were several consecutive years where we saw a 10% cut in flying hour funding, for example. There are roughly half the aggressor squadrons across the DOD compared to 20 years ago and far fewer real exercises, for another.

Cuts have outstripped commitments. Look what a problem it was 10 years ago. We didn't have the personnel or materiel to sustain two low-intensity wars in the same part of the world; enlistment requirements were basically wiped away to let any elbow licker through the door, and we effectively dropped Afghanistan to maintain minimum numbers in Iraq. And the military is hardly in better condition today.

The problem is not lack of funding, but how it is spent, and where it is spent. They don't need more funding. And eventually, it will cost us dearly to keep up this insane pace of military spending.

President Donald Trump Tuesday morning told Republican House lawmakers he will "come after" them if they do not vote for TrumpCare, the Republican bill to repeal and "replace" ObamaCare. Earlier today NCRM reported the President had threatened Republican Congressmen by stating they "will lose" their seats if they don't pass TrumpCare.

NBC News reports Trump, after threatening Republicans will lose their seats, added, "I don't care if the press prints that."

This new threat is far more extensive than just saying they "will lose" their seats and is revealing of just how unhinged Trump has become.

"I’m gonna come after you," Trump told lawmakers in a private meeting on the Hill, The Washington Post reports.

The paper cited "several Republican lawmakers who attended the meeting," adding Trump said: "I know I won’t have to, because I know you’ll vote ‘yes.’"

“Honestly, a loss is not acceptable, folks,” Trump reportedly also said.

He's gonna die alone.
