This looks like the best designed and most interesting game in the genre, but I'm still on the fence about whether I'm really interested.

Discord is in the OP, use that to find players. If anyone is on the fence about this game, buy it. It's very complete for early access, queues are instantaneous, and the core mechanics are extremely good. It's actually a very cerebral game, and 2v2 in particular feels just fantastic.

Meyers-Briggs Testicle posted:they are extremely not prevalent LOL The only meaningful anti-cheat is knowledgeable spectators, which is just not a practical thing in this type of game. Cheating will always be extremely prevalent in this genre.

Party Plane Jones posted:They're rarer in non-prime loot areas, the pissant little towns and shacks lying around the map on the test server would only give SMGs or shotguns until we moved around. This is honestly an incredibly awful change. The last thing this game needs is the starting phase to be more of a skill-free randomness clusterfuck where you hope a bunch of people don't go to the same place as you. It's also a very strange change to make because everything else seems pretty well thought out in general and then there's this massively anti-fun brainlessness.

Rex-Goliath posted:It seems like the 'high value' locations simply have way more spawn points and as such more chances to find good gear. Certain things are crate only - Tommy gun, M249, M24, AWM, 12X scope, Adrenaline... I think that's it. They can also drop certain non-rare items like K98s.

Bardeh posted:Why? Fairer games are better all around, and mean that people get the chance to improve gradually instead of getting crushed by people way beyond their skill level constantly. This isn't a competitive game, and the entire point of it is that it's unfair. There is zero reason for matchmaking to exist. It just removes most of the incentive to improve since the average player will never get good enough to see a benefit from it.

Yeah, it's really weird how the poo poo players care so much about KDR that they get salty when they can't play with higher KDR players every game... Also weird how after begging to play with those people they get salty when criticized by those players the same way they criticize each other constantly.

The discord is very good. The problem is people who are whiny cunts about wanting to play with people that don't want to play with them. There are like a thousand people who use it, it's not loving hard to find people who actually like you unless you're a completely miserable piece of poo poo. Most of this thread is drama and trolling because, again, the discord is actually good and that's where people get their real questions answered.

You hosed with the render scale setting, whatever it's called. Set it to 100.

None of those do anything, don't listen to idiots who tell you to put command line options from entirely different engines on for an Unreal game.

It'd be much better if developers just started demanding that level designers be competent and not put things at arbitrary heights, but rather specific ones designed for balance and consistency. There should basically be a few tiers of obstacle - one particular height hides you prone but can be shot over crouched, one particular height hides you crouched but can be shot over standing, and high enough that you're not visible at all. Nothing in between, stick to those specific heights. This isn't a new concept, the fundamentals of mapping as game design have been around since Quake, but every year there are fewer and fewer games with competent designers because it's all driven by art now - even though nobody gives a gently caress how the map looks after the very first time they play. Human scale being off is simply a requirement for third person to be workable. The game has bad enough camera issues as is, if buildings were tighter it would be totally intolerable.
