I've seen stupid people claiming CP3 is overrated and a role player. Is this as insane as I feel like it is? Now, I'll 100% grant to anyone that the "best PG" conversation is a logjam in 2017 because Russ is a beast, Harden is a wizard, Conley is really underrated, etc. and Chris is aging, but still holy poo poo at the idea of Chris Paul being a role player.

I also acknowledge his style is a bit more of a throwback, mind you.

Yes that is insane. Turns out talking about basketball outside of SAS threads is not as good as in SAS threads. (Unless it's on twitter with SAS posters) CP3 is easily one of the best players in his era.

Brandon Roy has horrible luck. His last good game was one of the coolest/craziest things I've seen an NBA player do.

Whoever did research for that story should do a little better next time. He was still in the NBA in 2012-13 attempting a comeback.
"Roy played in the NBA for six years, primarily for the Portland Trailblazers. He left the NBA in 2011 after knee injuries."

Ive never heard anyone say that. Thats insanity. I HATE him, but I acknowledge that he may be a top 10 PG of All time. Im not sure about a title but healthy, Clips might have went to 5 straight WCF instead of first rd losses. I think CP3, Blake, Deandre, JJ and Jamal is a crazy good group. I hope they blow it up though cause i love change.

That motherfucking Bulls press conference.

It was like an hour of GarPax throwing Fred Hoiberg under the bus, but still not firing him as then they wouldn't have a punching bag.

"We need to give more opportunities to our lovely young players who can't shoot and don't play the way we want them to!"

In general, the whole line of "we need to find out what we've got in our young players!" is so stupid. Paxson makes it sound like the Bulls are an up-and-coming team but their "young players" are dudes like Cam Payne and Denzel Valentine whose ceilings are....not particularly high, and who you should not be building your team around developing

But they'll be adding the #17 pick this offseason! Young talent rules the day

Also, despite talking about how they simply don't have any flexibility right now, they also said they're almost definitely going to pick up Rajon Rondo's $13 million option

Two good playoff games made GarPax forget that he got benched during the season, clashed with Hoiberg and only earned his way back into the rotation because Michael Carter Williams was unplayable garbage

edit: And after talking poo poo on Fred, Paxson says he can't commit to building around Butler because...he doesn't fit with Fred's system (!!!)

If he was the player people claim he was (top 10 point guard all time as someone said in this page) he wouldn't routinely and typically have playoff series where he doesn't manage to have three good games.

Maybe after he joined the Heat, not guaranteed before. LeBron didn't run the East like he does now until he joined the Heat. The real challenge for the 07-08 Hornets would have been the Celtics.

Not all that different because he doesn't consistently score enough to carry a team.

It's because he's not a great scorer. He's not bad, but if you aren't seeing playoff success and you're not putting up points, that doesn't leave you with much to hang off in terms of playoff performance.

I think CP3 is unfairly maligned in that regard, but that is sort of the burden of a pass-first PG. If you don't have the right pieces are you, you won't be effective. Players who can shoulder a scoring load can find some success even if their team is crap. That doesn't make CP3 less of a player, he is one of the best PGs of all time.
