You should see the Daily Stormer (far right/alt right blog or podcast or something)'s take on what Macron said. I don't even want to link or quote it because, obviously, it's racist as all hell, but they basically said "Macron's not being racist he's just talking common sense and everyone's triggered"

For real though, what Macron said wasn't wrong because he identified high fecundity as a problem, it was wrong because he misrepresented how demographic transition works. He has the cause and effect backwards. Countries don't become developed because people decide to stop having kids; people stop having kids because countries become developed, and they don't feel like they need 7-8 dice rolls just to be sure two of them to survive to adulthood. That's how it happened in every developed country with a stable or declining population, and folks aren't gonna just spontaneously stop having kids because Jupiter said it would be nice.
