The secret to Stitches is realizing that Hook is probably the least defining part of his kit. It's a fun meme to land the perfect pick, but it's not necessary in order for him to serve his function. You're a fat stack of HP that can deal a deceptive amount of damage, and are one of the best peelers in the game (especially with the right talent build). Don't forget that you also do a pretty OK job at laning, or even at taking camps in a pinch.

Also, if you go Kael do not take Convection at level 1. People will instantly realize that you suck with the hero and laugh when you're at level 20 with zero stacks accumulated. Take the mana shield perk instead.

Deckard is fine. You can make his healing output insane with the right picks. Yes, his abilities are slow but they also have massive AOE, and while his auto-attack blows his actual damage is often pretty decent - at least for siege damage. IMO the actually poor healers are:
Morales - her kit is fine on paper but in practice she is always energy-starved and can't actually heal enough considering she adds zero damage or CC; and
Ana - this is mostly because I only queue ARAM and quickplay, she requires a lot of support from the team plus the right opposing team so she's probably much better in ranked.

Everyone else does pretty well. I suppose Khaz can be a bit squishy against the wrong team but his upside against the right team makes up for that. He can at least escape consistently if things go downhill, which is more than Ana can say.

A lot of people think winning is fun though

edit: or, more likely, a lot of people think losing isn't fun

Don't you get the rewards for that mode, win or lose? I can understand not having fun winning in a regular game (although even then, I have a friend who only cares about winning and gets angry if we don't win, seemingly having no fun with any other part of the game and I just don't get it), but that mode is essentially just a goofy arcade mode right?

Depends on the person (as you've already noted). Some people go into ARAM because it's quicker, or because it's what their friends are doing, or they don't want to worry about drafting as much - it's not "goofy arcade" mode for everyone.

This seems like a horrible idea to try and balance, right? Good players will break this wide open while bad players will be complaining for buffs.

Valla is popular, everyone likes playing at her she has a place in the game and people don't mind playing against her. You want to make the rest of the game more like Valla, not rework her. Idk what kind of baby brained decision making made her somebody's priority to change.

It's not like Valla's perks were perfect, though. She probably was just the next hero up in their internal tracker for "we haven't looked at this one in a while". It's not like they're removing her core identity as with some other reworks of the past... and on the plus side she has not one, but two infinite ding quests!

I was being Facetious... That being said, How active is development on it?

I actually really enjoyed the game. If they actually show dedication to continuing work on it I will probably give it a download again.

[shrug]... they're patching about 3 times a year, with 4-6 heroes getting reworks each time.

I am eternally surprised that developers haven't learned their lesson yet and removed all chat from games except for with friends.

I won as part of a 5 heal/support team once, and got MVP. Because Zarya shits out damage like nobody's business at full charge, and with so much sustained healing she just continues to poo poo out damage until badguys are dead.

The best part is we didn't queue as 5 support. It was Zarya & two healers. Then the algorithm queued us with a group of two healers.

It's like how you lose socks in the laundry. All the missing healers in your matches are being shunted to some alternate queue where everyone is a healer.

Did you know that if you queue quickplay with four tanks the game will 100% give you an Uther as your fifth? I’ve tested this a half-dozen times or so and I poo poo you not it’s never failed me.

Bad? No. Unusual, probably - although anecdotally it comes up enough that there apparently is a real demand to just play vs. AI. I personally will never understand it myself, the fun for me is in the competition instead of the button mashing.

Junkrat is far less of an ARAM problem than including some of the absolute bottom-tier heroes as options. There's a half-dozen or so that either need solid buffs or should just be deleted since they significantly reduce your odds to win just from showing up at hero select to pollute your pool.

I will say that Junkrat is a problem when there's more than one of him. It's not so much a pure power thing, but that in ARAM it's just very hard to push a rear line so the longest-range heroes have a big advantage. I could see him, Chromie, and Azmodan in a "restricted" tier.

You're the tryhard!

I don't know, i only play ARAM because it seems like the casual mode...(typically) shorter matches, constant action, no map awareness or larger strategy necessary. What's the point in playing full map moba with objectives and poo poo if you're just gonna gently caress around and pew pew?

I guess I can understand if you're a specialist (xul or aba or naz) and just push lanes while your team does whatever. Still, communication and teamwork are basically the point of a game like this. It's just so strange to me that people queue up to just gently caress around I guess. ARAM is the ideal place to just gently caress around and blast fools.

Not every hero is playable, much less effective, in ARAM. ARAM also tosses out some of the more mapwide strategy that comes out in the more standard maps.

By no means do I think that everyone who solo-queues quickplay is thinking along these lines, but the point is that there are absolutely reasons for someone to want to jump into QP for a solo/duo game instead of hunting for a large group. Doing it in competitive is more for those people that want the extra incentive for others not to be in fuckaround mode.
