THIS IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE A DARKSIDE/OIL THREAD

If you think ADVRider is all crusty old dudes, go check out Wildguzzi sometime and be amazed at the number of threads discussing beard maintenance and suspenders.

Is there a way to filter posts in a thread by user? I haven't been on ADV in years, but remember seeing some reports that looked amazing... but scrolling through 4 pages of white noise comments and emojis between posts was just :effort:

you can search by posts by a specific user if you know their name, but AFAIK there's no way to filter by them in a given thread

The flea market over there is usually decent too - I've managed to sell a fair amount of used gear there, and when I've posted bikes there the people responding to the listings were far more coherent than the average Craigslist-er. Just make sure you follow the posting rules to a T and never, ever mention Craigslist or they will nuke your ad instantly. "I have this listed locally" is fine, "I have this posted locally on Craigslist" = boom.

Hmm... I have a hypothesis about virility as a direct correlation to v angle...

That line of thinking wraps back around to the 180deg opposed twins that apparently cause a loss of virility.

For reference, I own a GS and my dick still works. I also own a Ducati, so maybe they cancel out.

I've been in that situation and had to pull over to the shoulder through traffic to find the petcock and get it flipped to reserve.

1) It wasn't harrowing by any means, mostly just embarrassing and 2) it was my own loving fault for not checking the gas level in the tank before I took off.

Old men who describe their bikes in sexual terms likely do so because their poor wives, if they ever had one, are tired of pity loving them. No one else is going to do it without cash payment up front.

The poor bike can't say no. It's a waifu pillow for middle-aged mechano-weebs.

Aren't the various late model f-bikes just different tunes on the exact same capacity engine so the 'cc' numbers are bullshit anyway?

Until this latest model year, I believe. The 2019 f850 actually has 853cc of displacement, and they switched to a 270 degree firing order and added another counterbalancer.

The whole engine is made in China, which seems like the perfect combination for traditional German over-engineering. Let's solve a problem in the most complex way possible, and outsource manufacturing to what might as well be slave labor.

Yeah, childhood has been extended because people have life expectancies longer than 30 years and we don't lose 33% of kids to childhood diseases anymore (we still lose more mothers in childbirth than any other western nation, though!). Hence, it's not imperative to marry at 16 and get to makin' babies to run the farm.

If he's talking about millenials and zoomers living at home until their late 20s and early 30s, I refer my earlier post.

I'm glad ADVRider exists for the Flea Market. the esoteric technical knowledge that's buried in there, and some of the ride/trip reports, but the vast majority of the discussion threads are :psypop:

The slur is usually spelled differently, but regardless using it as a joke is pretty dumb.

Midwesterners, have you ever heard of a pair of wire cutters referred to as dikes? A few years back a coworker of mine asked me to hand him my dikes (had a pair of wirecutters in my hand) and I was confused AF

I've done a couple of long-ish distance fly and rides that crammed 8+ hours of slab into a single day, including one where I got stuck in a rain storm for a couple of hours with gear that turned out to not be waterproof. You're spot on - unless you're used to rides like that and are prepared mentally and gear-wise, it is absolutely miserable, and even if you are you're still going to be stiff and sore when you get to your destination and likely won't want a drat thing to do with the bike for a few days.

I really think of all the Chinese brands CF Moto are on par with anything from Japan and Europe.

Remember when the Korean auto manufacturers entered the US market and their cars were cheap but they completely sucked rear end? Then, over time the product got better and more stylish, there started to be some overlap between cheap Japanese cars (e.g. Ghosn-era Nissan) and the better stuff in the Korean lineups, but for the most part a Honda or Toyota was still built far better and was more reliable?

Same deal happening here.

Side note, CF Moto and KTM are partnered up, read from that whatever you will
