Many parents want their children to be educated in non-government schools to learn the morality and scripture of their faith. The alternative is becoming less appealing as Labor state governments introduce radical sexual and social programming in public schools and preschools. Liberal and Labor conservatives joined forces to push back against the radical Queer Safe Schools program that enjoyed the support of La Trobe University and Victoria’s socialist Labor government. While Shorten opposes the Gonski reform plan endorsed by Turnbull, it is unlikely that the ALP will attract many rationalists and conservatives while the content of its school curriculum is so destructive.

*checks notes*

I'm not sure anyone who has ever self-described as a 'rationalist' would want their children to get a faith-based education in scripture.

Lol an "oversight" there's no way it wasn't a conscious, committee-designed decision

It might have been a conscious decision but I think "the labor party is completely tone deaf" is always a plausible explanation (even though "the labor party panders to racists".is also very plausible).

Ridiculously, some tried to say that people who wanted reform of S18c to allow greater freedom of speech should not criticise Ms Abdel-Magied, because she was simply exercising her right to free speech. Since when did freedom of speech mean freedom from criticism? She of course, has the right to free speech, to say what she likes. So do those who disagree with her. That's what free speech is about. It certainly doesn't mean that if you jump in with the first comment, everyone else has to zip their lips and let your remarks go without comment or response.

Testing waste water is a pretty normal way to determine drug use stats for public health reasons. Although drug testing welfare recipients is dumb I don't see what's strange about this (other than being able to make :itwaspoo: jokes)

WHAT DOES THIS EVEN PRETEND TO MEAN

The dingo is probably not the best animal to represent a movement based around racial purity :v:

Given the constant threat of flooding in Holland, Mr Olthuis saw building on as a safer alternative to regular housing.

"On the water, these houses can just go up and down with the floods," he said.

And it's not just suitable for calm Dutch canals, Mr Olthuis insisted. He is currently developing floating islands in the Maldives in open ocean.

"The sea level is rising and they're are afraid of not having enough space in the next 50 years," he said.

This does not seem like the best idea.

Marles said on Sunday Labor hoped to be briefed by the Turnbull government this week on last week’s request from Pentagon officials.

He said Labor would look at that request “very carefully” and act “in a really constructive way here with the government”.

When I tried to copy the quote the other article story got formatted in incorrectly, but I thought it was appropriate to leave it there.
