Their emails are being thrown in the trash because they're not acting like professionals. Hot, popular and professional: you can only pick two, go.

Des Moines definitely has (and had, at the time) one of the nicest casinos in the whole state (Prairie Meadows) and is a great place to live with tons going on. I went to look how long ago this doofus flunked this bet and it turns out it was like within the past 10 years. Idiot.

My point is you could live exceedingly well on $1,000 a day, gamble $1,000 a day and still net a tidy $20K in Des Moines.

Bird in a Blender posted:Look at the Nissan CEO who Japan is going after for like $40 million in unpaid taxes. The guy had more money than 99.9% of the world, but he just had to have a little bit more. This assumes that the case made by Nissan and Mitsubishi is all above board and correct. The accusations made by Japan and these Japanese companies are exceedingly convenient (to put it politely) when it comes to wresting back control of the two traditionally Japanese companies now held largely by Renault (as a consequence of Ghosn's intervention, which certainly saved both companies from bankruptcy). To put it less politely, numerous economic states have manipulated tax policy as they see fit to target prominent multinational individuals when it aligns with their political goals. Do I think soccer players (with image rights, particularly) and CEOs (stock options and bonus compensation) are playing by the same rules as ordinary citizens? No, but they're within the realm of "behavior which is tolerated" until governments decide to apply slightly more scrutiny to some wealthy individuals than others. You're going to see this, more and more, whether the merits of Ghosn's individual prosecution hold up (or not).

Buffett has fences and cameras at his 650k house, but doesn't need security for the 5 minute commute between his home and the Berkshire Hathaway offices in Omaha. Omaha is a relatively big Midwestern city but I imagine it's awfully safe in the nicer parts of town.

In the HBO biopic it's all but openly acknowledged that Warren Buffett is on the autism spectrum and would have never been successful in life were it not for traditional gender stereotypes allowing him to find someone who could help him function in normal waking life. He openly acknowledges these shortcomings, and states the "three most worthwhile investments he's made" to be the two wedding rings for his first and second wives, and the house he owns in Omaha. I don't know that a normal functioning person should ever aspire to be what he is or have what he has.

Modern US leftists are literally the softest bitches on earth and the only risk they pose you is that you'll drown in their tears as they cry themselves to sleep in DSA branded Sherpa blankets (who are still somehow not as soft as they are). Serious discussions of massive income and wealth inequality routinely devolve into discussions of anime and Magic the Gathering so you know if revolution would cause even "mild inconvenience" these cowards aren't up for it. edit: I should probably clarify that I don't mean people with progressive politics or Democrats or liberals or whatever you identify as if you're not an utter ghoul, I mean the real "anarchosocialist" poo poo that would be required to create an actual factual revolution based on inequality.
