I have to question why the standard Shadowhawk has not one but three ballistic slots in it's shoulder, even if you could fit three AC/2s in there, why in the world would you want to consider how much you have to sacrifice to make it work. It'd make way more sense if the thing had one ballistic and two support hardpoints instead.

I don't believe so. Unless they've changed it so you can stick MGs in both ballistic and support hardpoints, but I doubt they've done that.

I just pre-ordered this because of my deep love of MechWarrior and Battletech in general. The videos I've watched so far make this seem like a really up to date MechCommander, would that be a fair comparison?

Mech Commander is an RTS that plays VERY fast and loose with essential things like load-outs and gameplay compared to the Table Top or Mechwarrior games. Battletech is a turn-based game that falls more in line with the TT version with a few much needed adjustments.

Reminds me of how MWO went to poo poo the moment they switched from 8v8 to 12v12.

No, MWO went to poo poo long before that. Increasing the player count wasn't such a big deal, what was a big deal was at the same time they reduced the number of people who could drop together and never address the matchmaking, which would constantly pit teams of mediums/lights against teams of heavies/assaults. On top of all that, they inadvertently kept nerfing lighter mechs and encourage people to boat on large mech, who could stomach the ghost heat penalties by using more heatsinks.

Then came the clan mechs...

It’s actually worst then that, they can be easily counter sued for damages done to them by HG under false pretenses, and since they literally drove a couple companies relatively recently (within in this decade) out of business, that’s a lot of damages. On top of all the federal fees they’re going to be hit with when they lose for violating copyrights laws.

Maybe I missed it in one of the streams but are you able to just repair a cored out mech with no cost beyond repair time and c-bills? I think I've seen at least two streamers get their spider and a black jack destroyed at least once and then field them again later. I don't mind the abstracted way HBS is doing salvage but it seems weird that the only drawback to getting your mech cored is possible pilot death.

Speaking of salvage, is it a bug that completing a mech from salvage has it fully equipped with its stock loadout of weapons, sinks, etc?

Based on the streams I've watched, repairing cored mech (not including refits and replacing destroyed section) is very expensive, especially when you start to get into heavy and assault mech. Also, having a mech knockout of commission for several months when you only have so many of them on stand-by isn't exactly a minor drawback.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe you found it, I've been looking forever for a video of this. I think when it was all said and done, or at least until :pgi: made it a bannable offense, we tricked over 3000 different players into alt-f4ing.

This is my favorite though, it encompasses everything bad about the Battletech community in a nutshell.
Blackburn Raiders vs Word of Lowtax
My two favorite bits is them complaining how we brought nothing assault but mechs, even though half the lance is made up of light mechs (the Cicada is a light mech at heart) and the other half is made up of a medium, two heavies, and one assault mech. My second is what they said at the end. :v:

The BBR in question is was made up of a super strict group of people who must use :airquote: military :airquote: lingo, must maintain a certain KDR, respect command structure at all times, and must adhere to honor above everything else. We spent every opportunity annoying them about how uptight they were, even going as far as parodying their MWO wiki entry; BBR wiki Goon wiki. The eventually they challenge us to a duel because we hurt their e-honor and were disgrace upon the community, and they would stop at nothing to purge us from the game blah blah blah blah same old same old. They lost, we won, end of story or so we thought. For whatever reason they posted a video of the match, deleted it right away, and then tried to claim the match never happened and that we were lying about it because we had no honor on the main forum. However, what they didn't know was we had already snagged the video and were just waiting for them to finish digging their own grave before reuploading it. The tears that came afterward were wonderful. :allears:

What I hope HBS adds in a future expansion is multi-stage missions, that would be awesome. Having really difficult series of missions like that where you have to really worry about conserving ammo and spreading damage around enough so that your mechs can survive the next set missions before being able to return to the Argo, is really my kind of jam.

For example: You go on a two stage mission, where you have to rendezvous with some vehicles you need to escort, you fight a few enemies, stage ends and you get to do a very limited amount of logistic work (like field repairs, restock ammo, etc), then the next day on a new map you're escorting those same vehicles to their final destination, maybe fight a few more mechs.

Or another example, you can do a mission that plays out like any other normal mission, but your contractor betrays you, and now you're spending the next few stages trying to fight and escape from them.
