Don't really want to spoil myself on this one, so I'll just ask here: how's the replay value if I'm not interested in multiplayer?
Is it like xcom where I can just play the campaign over and over?

Welp game crashed when I got back to the ship after a perfect escort run. Turns out there's no autosave at the end of a mission.

Yep that is precisely what you should be doing. Also slap on a sensor lock so if you’re out of sight you can still have your bros drop some LRMs on its head.

So what's the meatiest light mech available? I've been doing this with my Spider Dekker but it's only a matter of time until he gets hosed. I wouldn't mind losing a bit of speed if it could let him survive a direct hit.

A medium 'mech with Master Tactician. A light 'mech is never meaty.

Try the Jenner. It's fast, jumpy, and shooty.

Fine by me, I like how the Jenner looks.

Which medium mech would be the best for a master tactician? I've heard good things about the trebuchet but haven't been able to build one yet.

Spoiler regarding one of the main mission's rewards:

Can you replace the Highlander's gauss rifle if it gets destroyed? I don't want to sit on it by fear of losing the only one I can get.

Yeah I've reached the end game point where you just fight king crabs and their cohorts of thunderbolts and I'm pretty much never fielding a light mech again. That's a shame.

Sometimes Glitch just wants to eat 4 headshots in 6 salvos and that's ok.

Punched her out of course, she's too precious to die.

This game really needs a hardcore mode. My favourite moments have been in the early game when you need to scrape together a lance of your backup locust, a commando and whatever functional mediums you have running just so you can make enough money to pay the rent. Once you're rocking heavies and put a lot of upgrades into your drop ship a lot of that early game tension dissipates.

Agreed, I haven't had to reload a save yet and I know fuckall about battletech or good robot builds. The mid/late game is just you steamrolling everything with 4 heavies/assaults forever, which does get old after a while. The game is at its best when you're still fielding lights and mediums imo, but they have no place in a sea of 4/5 skulls missions.

So is there any reason to ever mount a PPC if your mech can mount an AC5 instead? Is the PPC debuff really worth it? I don't really notice it when I get hit by one.

Completely agree. Just finished the campaign and the last third or so got really boring. The game has solid foundations, but it gets bad after you outgrow the light/medium mechs. My last hours of gameplay were just me slowly walking forward with 4 assaults and wiping out a billion thunderbolts/orions/banshees. Wrapped up the campaign, turned off the game, I had fun with it but I'm probably not touching it again unless they rework the solo experience.

Only you didn't. Kamea and co. were legging it from the place, trying to escape a whole battalion of mechs and support. And after they were gone Taurian Concordat and Directorate would take all those SLDF mechs and send them at you. Blowing the base was the smart choice here.

But then I'd get to headshot them and hoard them in my ship

For those messing around with the game: would it ever be possible to have more than 4 units in a lance? I'd love to gently caress around with 12 locusts in a 5 skulls mission or something.

Just lol if you don't buy the low G pool

Randomly opened the thread and saw this, skimming through the nexus page right now. For those of you who've given this mod a try, is it just 100% endless stuff or is there some kind of endgame? While it sounds great on paper, I don't want to end up playing random missions over and over again if there isn't any win condition.

Speaking of mods, I haven't really kept up with the game since a few months after release. Are roguetech and battletech advanced 3062 any good? I'm mostly looking for a decently hard experience, a reason to not field 4 assault mechs forever once I've assembled them and hopefully not having to sperg for 40 minutes in the mech bay between each mission.
